I'm already disappointed by "Only in death does duty end"

It really should have been "Even in Death I still serve"

So I guess GK is the next release? I kinda feel like everything I'm seeing there isn't really that impressive. Honour the Chapter could be good, but they'd need to find a way to make Terminators more worth taking, I think. Only situationally useful on PA GK on account of the few attacks they get.

I wonder if they'll be changing up what the weapons do again.

I am liking what I am seeing. Hopefully GW gives Blood Angels the other Storm-series flyers as well.

I have a little force of Grey Knights, maybe I should get another squad of Terminators or a Strike Squad.

It's ok, situational really.

But the Dreadknight grand master is almost 300 points and he might only change in WS, BS and aura. Plus it's still a T6 model that can be targetted because of 10+ wounds.

By crazy you mean crazy AWESOME, right?

There will probably be several limitations on what he can bring. Perhaps he won't be able to take any of the weapon systems. The White Dwarf leaks have mentioned that it is a conversion, so who knows?

Also, Astral Aim on a Purgation Squad toting Psilencers would be cool.

So far - absolutely terrible.

Astral Aim is situational but completely necessary.

We have no answer to imperial guard in our current kit. This helps. We can shoot those hiding Manticores with Lascannons now.

I didn't find myself wanting a GK Stormtalon or Stormhawk. We could already take them as Imperium, and we're already extremely model poor, not sure how i'd work them in without a flyer wing.

Oh, also, 8 DK in 2000 points. Each one will be less than 250, with it in mind that the DKGM is going to be more (did someone say 300 at one time?).

They really seem fired up on the idea of an all DK army. Model sales aside, I wonder if that means the DK is about to get a lot cooler.

I can't understand why anyone would do this, lol. Before the Grand Master NDK, you could field an almost all dreadknight army, and no one was doing that for a reason!

Honestly everything so far seems good to me.

DK characters are gonna be great, taking fliers is an okay option to have, and having access to so many powers should be pretty cool.

I didn't expect them to change that much, so this is all expected and welcome.

You know, I don't know why I didn't consider that you could use that on vehicles at first. I was just visualizing a bunch of storm bolters and psilencers poking holes in a wall somewhere. It does make it a lot cooler now in my mind, and actually makes me want to contemplate a GK Godhammer. If I'm only going to get one casting of the power, might as well put all my eggs into one basket after all.

Yeah. Of all the models we could have been given, neither of those were the ones I wanted.

It's also probably a good indication of what the other SM chapter books will be like. Half SM strats, half new strats, new relics, and a few new models. I also assume they will get some kind of chapter tactics as well, with the unlikely dream being they get 2-3 tactics to choose from.

A single unit shooting through walls will not help with IG.

No we'll still be tabled but at least we will kill 1 tank before that happens.

I'm 50/50 on it.

Grey Knights are the only Marines I like and I only ever used them as an added flavor to my Ordo Hereticus army alongside IG and Witch Hunters so I'm kind of glad they aren't getting any new super units or vastly expanded rosters. They can continue to be a flavor add-on to my Adeptus Ministorum army for the most part.

On the other hand nothing is really making me go "whoa, I can't wait to buy more Grey Knights!" (unless they release the Start Collecting bix and it has a dreadknight in it).

No idea, I'm not a GK player. Though re-rolling all hits when the GK cc units come knocking isn't a bad choice...

Grey Knights are pretty weak in melee, because our melee attacks don't have any special way to generate mortal wounds, and incredibly low mobility and attacks on models. GSC, Eldar, and others are flatly superior in melee because of their mobility, as well as their ability to generate mortal wounds in combat. My 2c.

And rerolling 1's to hit is only 12.5% less effective than rerolling 1's and 2's, and it's not restricted to pure CC.

Anyway, Grey Knights are stronger as a shooting army than as an assault army. You won't see a competitive GK list without multiple flyers.

Oh, I see. Yes - I had the same thought. Although i'm thinking that an AC-130 raven /w typhoons and lascannons is still a better choice. The only upside to the raider is i guess that it's boots on the ground.

Stormraven was kind of my initial thought as well, but I figured that it was maneuverable enough that it wouldn't need it as much, at least, in some hypothetical situation where you had to choose between the two.

Really, since we don't know what the other powers look like, it's hard to say if there would ever be a situation not to just take it to use it on whatever the nastiest anti-tank you happen to have at the time is.

I'm kinda hoping they make psycannons worth taking again, but I'm not gonna hold my breath on that one. I think they kneejerked away from the "good ones" and haven't yet found the sweet spot again, but they never really made any of the other weapons worth taking much more by comparison. I think the last game I played against GK (there's a heavy local GK meta here) he didn't even take anything other than storm bolters and falchions on the infantry themselves. I can't say I'd blame him at this point.
