I meant the steampunk variation but forgot about the troll slayer successors. Well, with good selling modern dwarfs there is a distinct possibility of a stunty reappearance in 40K. I would like to see a Land Train manufactured by Forge World and the price tag attached to it. But I guess they would introduce new models without any resemblance to the old squats.
the Demiurge could be introduced as a tau auxiliary other than that a full space dwarf army seems... unlikely? It's possible we see a few models with an inquisition re-release.
Necrons - 6000+
Eldar/DE/Harlequins- 6000+
Genestealer Cult - 2000

I was going to buy some of the new sky dwarfs and do them up as a 40k faction for fun... but alas other options became paramount for me. Though I did find about 30 old metal actual squats in my bits box from donkeys years ago the other day and am going to convert them up ( maybe with anvil industries anti-material weapons) to ratlings.
14k Generic Space Marine Chapters 20k Deathwatch 10k Sisters of Battle 3k Inquisition 4k Grey Knights 5k Imperial Guard 4k Harlequins 8k Tau
Yeah, it'd be odd if squats proper came back, and this teaser is distinctly imperium in some way. So the demiurge, the space dwarves they've been keeping in their back pocket, don't work. It's odd to say the least.

IMO as a tau auxillary force they are just not strange enough. Take a look at kroot and vespids. These are truly alien.

Except in the fluff they talk about them being a tau auxiliary force. They gave them the means to use plasma tech

Squats are now the Demiurg. A 1000% most interesting race than "fantasy dwarves in spheeees"

Dakka does have White Knights and is also rather infamous for it's Black Knights. A new edition brings out the passionate and not all of them are good at expressing themselves in written form. There have been plenty of hysterical responses from both sides so far. So we descend into pointless bickering with neither side listening to each other. So posting here becomes more masturbation than conversation.

Squats are mentioned in the fluff appendix of the 8th edition rulebook, so clearly GW is not done with them yet. I am going to buy a box of Mantic's Forge Father Militia to use as Demiurg, they will be fielded as Fire Warriors with my buddies who don't goncern themselves if it is a GW model or not.
That appendix has been in the last two editions, and also mentions cat people.
I don't think too much can be laid at its feet, TBH

That will be very cool.

Those actually look pretty cool IMO.
I like the looks of the gw steampunk dwarves too.
Pricier then all get oiut but would love to have one of those airship things.
