Hunting with the 13th

With the recent reeducation of Obliterators (to 4 shots, each), I am working on a list that utilizes them en masse.

[Spearhead Detachment - Black Legion]
Abaddon 240
Obliterators x 15 (5 units) 975
----------------------------
[Battalion Detachment - Nurgle Daemons]
Epidemius 100
Herald of Nurgle 70
GUO 248
Plaguebearers x30 (instrument) 220
Nurglings x 4 80
Nurglings x3 60
----------------------------
1993 points, 12 units, 9 CP (with Abaddon)

The plan is to deepstrike all of the oblit unit as the game warrants. Although he does not utilize Epidemius' tally, Abaddon seems like a good fit with the Oblits via his rerolls, morale boost, and general CC viability. Even his ranged attack can weaken some units that the Oblits can then finish off to boost the tally.

The Nurglings are in there just to get a battalion detachment, but I am not sure if it is worth the CP to just run a Patrol detachment utilizing Epidemius and his blob of plaguebearers, and then squeeze in another detachment for more units that can directly boost the tally...I don't have much firsthand knowledge in running small squads of Nurglings in eighth (and I only have seven bases of them, to boot).

Another option is to drop the Nurglings and GUO, and instead replace with two flying nurgle princes; this cuts down on my number of units just a bit and then gives me two fast melee threats who should be able to mix it up in short order, as well as hide behind the plaguebearers in the strong chance that I won't be going first (unlike the GUO, who is left with his rotten arse flapping in the breeze). This also leaves the plaguebearers for the end-game, and to string out on objectives in the backfield (and also power up from Epidemius). Would it be prudent to squeeze in an icon for them?

Thanks in advance for the feedback!

Giggling Nurgling

After I realized that Nurgle Oblits were nurgle daemons, my mind started wondering about a list like this too. I would say to get rid of the GUO and go the route of a Prince. They're fast, pretty good, and they can't be targeted by most things, especially with all those oblits being up front.

DO Nurgle Oblit , some how get disgustingly resilient ? With all the FAQ and updates, and new books I may have missed it. Granted they pretty good to add to the tallyman, but do they get DR?

They don't, unfortunately. Fleshy Abundance may be the only defensive buff for nurgle-marked Oblits, imo.

@Mekrot: I am liking the option for two princes a bit more, after crunching some numbers with the list. It takes three detachments, which is doable:

1) Spearhead Detachment
--Abaddon
--Oblits x 5 units
2)Supreme Command Detachment
--Daemon prince: wings, claws, warp bolter
--Daemon prince: wings, claws (maybe a sword instead), warp bolter
--Herald of Nurgle
3)Patrol Detachment
--Epidemius
--Plaguebearers x 30: instrument, icon

The Herald is kind of the odd duck in the list, but he fits the points and has some placement options. I don't think I can shoehorn this into two detachments, but I don't really lose anything with 3 (currently sitting at 7 CP, if I added correctly).
