Sorry it took a bit longer than expected - money making got in the way and apparently I'd thrown out the grid and had to custom build new ones out of cloth tape.
Came out alright though - cloth tape actually works better than gauze and a heatgun, it just sticks to the surface.

Some rushed on grey lines for the pinstriping and three tartan models in about four hours actual work, most of that time spent making the race tape grid and waiting for spray-paint to dry.
I present the lazy man's tartan.

I wish I could say it was well thought out but I dumb-lucked onto the gauze the first time and the cloth-tape working better was just a happy coincidence since I'd lost the gauze.

I used to work for a signwriter, never fell for the striped paint or the left-handed screwdriver - the one that got me was when we were building flag banners and he gave me fifty bucks and sent me to the hardware shop to ask for a for a "Long wait".
I got halfway to the shops before I realised what was going on - went to the fishing tackle shop and purchased fifty bucks worth of long sinkers. Tradie games stopped there.

Pretty sure the Death Watch is based on the Black Watch, which is an all Scottish regiment in the British military. This also is supported by their fighting style, which is mostly headbutts and kicking their opponents while they are down.

Not really.
The academical consensus among geneticists is that the genetics of Europeans hasn't changed much since the end of the last ice age (if we exclude fringe situations like isolated tiny islands).
The idea that the Dark Ages involved mass migration is simply ludicrous. The norse migration to the British Isles wasn't as massive as to warrant a genetical shift.
That said, people living in the western coast of England was already pretty similar genetically speaking to Danes and Jutes, but that was from way before the so called viking invasions.

First off most of the accounts from the era can't be trusted as they are hogwash about God appearing from the sky, 10 warriors defeating a 10k army and dragons and demons rising from the sea.
Secondly none of the accounts say that they came in huge numbers and displaced the locals entirely, replacing the native population with their own.
There was migration, but generally not that big, and it was always absorbed by the native population.
Cultural shifts would happen because of "elite transfer", not because the local population had been displaced and replaced.

Bluebeard wrote:There was migration, but generally not that big, and it was always absorbed by the native population.
"Big" is a relative term. I'm sure it seemed suitably big for those villagers who experienced the influx, but not so big to fully supplant the local population nor sufficiently big to lead to the depopulation of the areas they left.
The absorption is what accounts for half the natives of Scotland having significant genetic background of Viking nature.
Bluebeard wrote:Cultural shifts would happen because of "elite transfer", not because the local population had been displaced and replaced.
We're talking about genetic transfer, not cultural.transfer. And considering that about a thousand years have passed, with less than minimal records kept, we're not sure about how much genetic transfer has actually occurred within that time.

I'm not a religious person myself but I tend to believe that such stories usually have grains of truth - the ten men for instance probably did defeat a larger force under unusual circumstances, tag the rest up as excuses - God, embellishment - like my statement of the British people being half Viking I got that from commentators at a football match or a lack of understanding - ever see Victorian era sketches of whales? They look an awful lot like current dragons.
Raiding, raping and the occassional kidnapping wasn't mass displacement, although it probably felt that way to the villiages who suffered it.
Genetics actually support the claim of British folk having a high amount of North Seas/Northern European blood, probably due to a common ancestor and just kept high by the raidings.

There are some traces but they are not big.
It's way more similar to France and the rest of continental Europe.
On the subject I suggest the books of Peter Heather, excellent historian. As I said the academical consensus among historians and genetists is that the Dark Ages migrations didn't involve large groups of people, not big enough to warrant significant genrtical shifts. That was a common myth during the 19th century and the first half of the 20th, but has since then been abandoned.
