So I've looked about for a second army to run for some time (Been playing GK's for a while now) and nothing has really taken my fancy until thinking about running something pretty similar to the GK's being the Deathwing so here is my attempt at looking to make a middling army somewhat competitive:

Spearhead Detachment:


HQ:

Belial w/ SoS, SB

Heavy:

3x Rapier Carrier w/ Laser Destroyer



1x Land Raider Crusader w/ SB


Vanguard Detachment:


HQ:

Librarian w/ Jet Pack, Power Sword, Pistol - Psychic: Mind Worm, Aversion

Elites:

1x Deathwing Ancient

1x Deathwing Knight Squad w/ Watcher in the Dark

1x Deathwing Terminator Squad:
1x Terminator Sergeant w/ PS, SB
1x Terminator w/ PF, SB, Cyclone Missile Launcher
1x Terminator w/ PF, AC
1x Terminator w/ CF, SB
1x Terminator w/ PF, SB

1x Deathwing Terminator Squad
1x Terminator Sergeant w/ PS, SB
4x Terminators w/ PF, SB

1x Deathwing Terminator Squad
1x Terminator Sergeant w/ Lightning Claws
1x Terminator w/ TH, SS
3x Terminator w/ PF, SB




Thinking behind the list is to place the Rapiers in the back field in cover to go for Knights/Vehicles etc. with the Crusader (loaded with 1 squad of regular DW Terminators) most likely in between to provide cover for deep striking mofos. The rest of the army is deep striking in hard and looking to hit hard with an alpha strike. If I lose first turn just pray the Land Raider can take a beating

No thoughts? Was also considering dropping a Rapier Crew and Upgrading the Crusader to a Prometheus LR then having a Interrogator Terminator Chaplain instead of the Librarian sat inside with a Terminator Squad. In turn getting that -1 Command Strategem per turn? The quad heavy bolters would be a nice upgrade also

TO be honest i like the list. I like anytime some one trys to make death wing work. it has trouble being competitive. I would recommend some deathwing knights at the very least. and maybe an apothecary due to the fact that losing one model is alot worse for us deathwing players then say orks. The apothecary can help in prolonged games and you seem to have enough dakka and movement to get around the board. Maybe give the ancient the storm shield to guarantee the plus 1 to with the 3 up invuln and give the last squad another cyclone missile launcher. Let me know how the list works out for you though. i also have a deathwing list on this page to if you want to check it out.

I agree with you about the Knights, I might switch something around to get another Knight squad in and also fit an apothecary, maybe I'll drop a Rapier team to accommodate this and switch a terminator squad out!. Thanks for your comments fella

Made a few tweaks after making a few orders via Forge World and invested in another Knight Squad.

Spearhead Detachment:

HQ:

Company Commander w/ Master Crafted Boltgun, PS

Heavy:

2x Rapier Carrier w/ Quad Heavy Bolters

1x Land Raider Crusader

1x Leviathan Dreadnought w/ Siege Drill/Melta, Grav-Flux Bombard, 2 Heavy Flamers

Vanguard Detachment:

HQ:

Belial w/ SoS, SB

Elites:

2x Deathwing Knight Squad



1x Deathwing Terminator Squad:

1x Terminator Sergeant w/ PS, SB

1x Terminator w/ PF, SB

1x Terminator w/ PF, AC

1x Terminator w/ CF, SB

1x Terminator w/ PF, SB



1x Deathwing Terminator Squad

1x Terminator Sergeant w/ PS, SB

2x Terminators w/ PF, SB

Similar tactics as before with all terminators deepstriking with Belial and the rest following up on the ground. The Leviathan Dread footslogging (he's surprisingly quick with 8" move which means turn 2 he should be in threat range to go for high prio targets like a LoW). The rapier can follow suit with the LR leading the way (Company master will be inside for deployment and pop out for reroll 1 buffs).



Think this is alot more of a survivable list, lots of tough units and lots and lots of shots from a low model count. Probably the best list I've come up with whilst fiddling about on battlescribe!

Says so what? About being able to have Cyclone + Assault Cannon? I just saw that there was no conflict within Battlescribe, probably wrong though. I've dropped it anyways, way too many points!

I'd recommend you don't rely on Battlescribe data files to confirm list legality. Always double check with the actual Index/Codex. From the Index: For every five models in the squad, one Deathwing Terminator may take a plasma cannon or an item from the
Terminator Heavy Weapons list."
