Subject: Changes to Tomb Kings in the new Compendium (warning: rampant, irresponsible speculation!)

So as some of you may have already noticed, Tomb Kings got a new compendium. See here:

Of particularly interesting note, all of the named characters were changed to generics. Now, the realist in me sees no hidden meaning here. They're just bringing the compendiums into the Age of Sigmar and throwing away the explicit "you're playing battles in the Old World, still!" thing they had going on.
But the optimist in me sees that... they have exciting plans for Settra, Apophas, and Khalida in Age of Sigmar!
Even though I play Order, I would be excited to see an expansion to the Death alliance, and what better way than to bring these old characters back, leading a new faction of Death? I wouldn't think Apophas would make it which kinda throws the idea back to "they're just bringing everything into the Age of Sigmar officially" territory but one can dream...

Wouldn't be hard. The realm of death is full of deserts, ancient kingdoms, sentient skeletons ruling cities/city-states and there's the Obsidian Monarchy fluff-bit which was a chariot using skeleton army that destroyed invading ogres.
What'd be awesome is if GW just saved themselves some trouble and made that Mengal miniatures TK battletome official.

Erm the fact they lost the deathrattle keyword? To me it seems like GW is ripping of the band-aid since the compendium was merely to bridge the gap towards supported lines. Hell you can't even summon them anymore.

Yeah, it's a blow to them. Hopefully the reverent legion battletome rumors are fulfilled to throw those players a bone.
Death certainly needs more love in anycase.

I have said this on the TGA forums but I am now starting believe that death is getting a new line they will be in the style of deathlords and the deathrattle skeletons of shadespire. It's telling when they have largely rebased majority of the death on circle bases including the skeleton boxes we already possessed but haven't touched zombies unless they are making new ones. Also I don't think they are doing a deathrattle tome either considering they just released a ally box set for deathrattle and reboxed the whole range they would normally do that on release of the new book of very close to it. GW tends to avoid doing start collecting or saving boxes for factions they are planning to do. Deathrattle is going to be a part of a bigger release, deathlord vampires and liche's, new zombies etc.
Since by large Nagash still can't use all his spells.
I believe all the new allegiances for death in the general handbook is a band-aid for the proper release. Still Death players are as patient as the grave and considering how excited all of us were for the shadespire skeletons we will jump to attention when a full release comes.

Agreed.
(Shadespire will be my first time jumping on the Death faction train as well. A warband of Daniel Fortesques is too good to pass up)

That's MediEVIL and yes I did. Big fan of the entire series except when I was a kid and Sir Daniel scared the tar out of me. (Didn't know how cool he was at the time)
