I tried to grab all the Codex and Index armies, though I was always going to miss one someone liked - sorry!

I had to put some thought into this one. My hands down favorite units are dreadnoughts but I'm pretty much impartial to the rest of the space marine lineup. Next I have to mention my traitor guard for being my favorite conversion work that I have done. But I think my favorite army on a whole; from play style, to lore, to aesthetics, to every unit in the army, would have to be Necrons. Cant get enough of those crazy robots.

To those that say there is no stupid questions I say, "Is this a stupid question?"

Imperial Guard have always been the army I wanted to play, and were my first major army. I just wish the tanks were more exciting.

I play Red Marines, be they Vanilla or BA, depending on the codex du jour.

The current Necrons would be my next choice. I like mad scientist robots. I wish I'd gone with them in 6th edition instead of Red Marines.

And I like Tau. I'm not "Big" into Anime, but I do love me some mecha suits.

AM seems to be the clear winner followed by Orks.
AM is shootier than ever and Orks seem to be fun to play, still.

Imperial Guard was my first ever army, and still my favourite, although Orks do come close to that.

Playing the underdogs has a very particular appeal that is difficult to describe...

Orks can be customized in thousand different ways, that's why they're so popular.

Harlequins are my favorite, personally. I remember when they first appeared in the Rogue Trader era (I'm very old) with those classic Jez Goodwin miniatures and the most complicated paint jobs I'd ever seen in Eavy Metal. I've liked them ever since.

I've played a grand total of one game as Harlequins since then - a 25 power level learning game of 8th ed, which I lost.

Spoiler:
To be fair, I did stop playing 40k for something like 25 years imbetween.

Harlies is one of my favorite as well. I'm mixing them with Craftworld detachments in a Ynnari army.
I have 25 classical Harlie miniatures and I like them. The new checkerboard models never attracted me.

Right, but then Space Wolves, Blood Angels etc etc are also just "Space Marines"

Too difficult, I selected CSM because they are the first love.

Generic characters disappearing? Elite units of your army losing options and customizations? No longer finding that motivation to convert?
Your army could suffer Post-Chapterhouse Stress Disorder (PCSD)! If you think that your army is suffering one or more of the aforementioned symptoms, call us at 789-666-1982 for a quick diagnosis!

Orks, Imperial Guard, and Sisters of Battle, in no particular order. Eldar, 'crons, and a few SM chapters (BA, RG, Sallies) bring up the rear.

The people in the past who convinced themselves to do unspeakable things were no less human than you or I. They made their decisions; the only thing that prevents history from repeating itself is making different ones.

'Nids for me. It is the fluff and the aesthetic of the models. Nothing I like painting more than a big bug. Stuck with them though 6th and 7th, glad to finally be reaping some biomass in 8th.

Despite the avatar, Tau for me. Though they've gotten darker through the different versions, they struck a chord with me when they were first released because they seemed to be the only really "good" faction - they welcomed other races into their empire, their technology was on the rise, and even their slogan "For the Greater Good" all seemed to point to it. Now, they more mirror the WW2 Japanese Imperialists they were supposed to be...

It never ends well

Mankind was a bit like the Tau during the Dark Age Of Technology weren't they?

Anyway, I also really like the necrons and the 'nids. I like their fluff (ancient evil and alien horror) and the Necrons have lots of great special characters too. Honestly, I prefer them as the ultimate evil over Chaos.

Everyone who doesn't choose is a heretic but not all heretics don't choose. It's like how all primarchs are heretics but not all heretics are primarchs.
