Topic.
I have read a lot of people saying things which suggest they are self buffing e.g. daemon princes. But my reading of the rules made me think you can't. How are people interpretting the rules?

Sorry if this has been answered. I couldnt find any topics when I searched .

1) Wrong forum.
2) This has been discussed a lot.
3) Your "reading" is incorrect. Unless the power says it doesn't affect the caster in some way, it can. This isn't even a case of "The rule is ambiguous and could be interpreted in two ways", it's 110% clear and unambiguous.

To turn this back around, why do you think a psyker can't use a power on itself? Give an explanation or justification for your view. Don't just say "because I say so."

Hey mate thanks for the quick reply.
Im new to the game and I appreciate your friendly attitude towards me. You must make a great first impression on people.
The reason I interpretted it this way is because in all of the descriptions of the abilities, they talk about casting on allies/models within X distance of the psyker. There is nothing that suggests the target can be the model casting the ability. Unless there is another part of the book that clarifies this, I don't think this is "110% clear and unambiguous"

I am glad you agree.

Luckily, there is a part of the massive eight page tome that is the rules that clarifies this.

On the Shooting Phase Page, bottom right sidebar entry.

Some units – usually CHARACTERS – have abilities that affect certain models within a given range. Unless the ability in question says otherwise, a model with a rule like this is always within range of the effect.

For example, a Lord of Contagion has the Nurgle’s Gift ability, which affects all DEATH GUARD models within 7" of him. As the Lord of Contagion is also a DEATH GUARD model, he benefits from this ability as well.

So as long as the power in question affects the correct keywords, the model casting it can benefit from it.

For example, the Space Marine power "Might of Heroes" affects "an ADEPTUS ASTARTES model" within 12". Note it doesn't say "another" or "other" model. The Librarian is an ADEPTUS ASTARTES model within 12" of itself, so it can benefit.

Teach a man to fish and all that. I'm trying to help, no need to be passive aggressive about it.

You love the T-Rex. Its both a hero and a Villain in the first two movies. It is the "king" of dinosaurs. Its the best. You love your T-rex.
Then comes along the frakking Spinosaurus who kills the T-rex, and the movie says "LOVE THIS NOW! HE IS BETTER" But...in your heart, you love the T-rex, who shouldn't have lost to no stupid Spinosaurus. So you hate the movie. And refuse to love the Spinosaurus because it is a hamfisted attempt at taking what you loved, making it TREX +++ and trying to sell you it.
