Salutations and welcome fellow hobbyists

I've been lurking around this forum for quite sometime, enjoying the splendid work shown here.
There are some great blogs and amazing armies out there. Wanting to be a part of that I started out on my journey.
I had been away for almost 11 years, back then I was all about fantasy orkz, it was the time for drybrushing and shades weren't a thing.
But in the years past since then, my tast for sci-fi, especially the grimdark variations, have manifested itself soundly.
So naturally I was drawn to the far future of eternal war.
I'm a sucker for the little guy, admittedly they count in their millions if not billions But I have all ways been a big fan of the guard.
Going to war with the numerous enemies of mankind ain't to impressive if you are a gene enhanced warrior.
But facing of xenos and daemons armed only with your faith, munitorum issued primer and flashlight, that takes balls of biblical proportions

To begin with I wanted to make a mechanicum army, building and converting normal guards into a mechanicum support force for a titan.
But then GW came out with the Adeptus mechanicum army and while I don't have anything specific against them, they just don't do it for me.
So I went back to the drawing board

I have always enjoyed the fluff immensely and started reading through a lot of the Black Library publications.
"Dead men walking " by Steve Lyons caught my attention.
actually read it twice and thought to my self "anyone who makes necrons look not-that grim, must be the essence of grimdark!
So I turned to the Death Korps of Krieg, their fluff is great and miniatures are hands down some of the coolest minies out there.
Admittedly they are expensive and working in the armed forces don't make you rich, but second hand and patience have paid off.
I've gotten my hands of enough Korpsmen to last me a while

I'm gonna upload pictures as I get them build/repaired and painted.
I might upload a bit of fluff and WIPs.
Constructive criticism is more than welcome, it's the way we grow as hobbyist and humans

Salutations all!

Thanks for the replies, I'm glad you guys liked it

Well it's GW colours, base coat Chaos Black, then a thin layer of ushabi bone, washed with Reikland fleshshade.
Followed by yet another thin coat of lightened ushabi bone. Then a layer of carroburg crimson, followed by some more lightened Ushabi
Then I applied some carroburg crimson to the legs and around the sockets in its neck.
Then highlights of light, almost white, then a blending layer of thinned down fleshshade.

Not the best tutorial in the world, but to be honest, I'm often plotting and planning, scheming for hours just to go AWOL and winging it
Same thing with all my vehicle projects, spend hours measuring and sketching, just to go with my guts, oh well.

But while on the subject of painting, I just wanna throw out some props before I start the whole thing off.
I wanna give some kudos to a couple of bloggers who inspired me to starts this log

First of all; doubleT at https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/314300.page#top
Hands down the best Krieg army I've seen, honestly he almost put me off Krieg, simply because I'd never see myself match his level.
Then I remember to let my betters inspire me and so I stayed the course
What really does it for me is the level of detail and the colour scheme.
I am a big fan of earthy, somber colours, which you'll see when pictures of the boys starts rolling in
His mud is the best mud I've seen and just goes so well with anything Krieg, IMO.
So thanks to doubleT for the inspiration.

Second batch of mad props goes to; get to the chopper! At https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/255491.page
While it's not Krieg, the level of thought and dedication gone into each miniature is crazy
And the fluff is simply awe inspiring!
I would like to put in the same amount of thought, maybe get deeper into the Krieg mindset.
So thanks goes to "get to the chopper" for an inspiring read through! ( and a quote by Govenator as username? Frosting on the cake )

These are but two, as you'll know this side is stuffed to the brim with brilliant stuff!
And I can't very well list them all, but Digits at; https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/398194.page
Or Majorspiers at http://commissar.proboards.com/thread/15591/42nd-krieg-engineer-korps.

I don't know if any of those guys still are around, but if my log could be just a fraction of theirs, I'd be happy.
Lastly and in that spirit I wanna emphasis, constructive criticism is always welcome, if there is something you like to see let me know.
After all this is only fun for me if it's enjoyable for you guys

With all that out of the way, I think we can get on to the army.
From the next post and onward I'll try to cover the different branches of my siege regiment and flesh out some of the fluff
For now I will call it a post, promising I'll add many more pictures next time.
Next time where we are gonna cover the command structure of the 113th siege regiment in pictures, thoughts an fluff.

Back after a longer than planned absent
Sadly real life, and three break-ins, in as many months, put the hobby on hold.
Luckily they kept their thieving hands from my hobby corner, well except that they stole my airbrush
There were a lot to handel, with the police and insurance company, but now I am back and will try to upload a little more regularly.
First of a little fluff for the background.
Its gonna expand over time but for now this is it.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Arda VII.
The Third planet in the Centaur system, found in the Segmentum Tempestus.
An Ocean world, dominated by a supercontinent, with smaller islands dotting the endless sea.
The planets relatively close proximity to the systems star gives Arda VII a if not hot, then warmth weather, the heat and the large body of water results in a constant curtain of rain covering the planet.
Date of colonisation is lost in the dust of the past.
Three hive cities, one for each family of power, stands in the tall on the supercontinent, simply named Arda.
The three industrial hive cities process an algae like kelp, harvested by the millions of people living in the marsh lands covering most of the continent.
The cities and the planet is governed by a feudal like class of nobles, once constantly at war with each other and vying for the mantel of power.
All that ended at the day of His Decent. The day the Emperor of man made planet fall at the beginning of his great crusade.
The nobles of the three cities meet and kneelt in His present at what would later come to be known as the Field of descended. They pledge themself to the course of his empire and joined in the crusade.
For generation they fought at the side of the Emperors chosen sons, the Astartes.

The Heresy
Then came the great betrayal. As Horus carved a bloody trail across the galaxy, so did Arda burn, the fourteen legion came crashing down upon the world.
Cause the tied of soldiers weren't Ardas greatest contribution to the Emperors war.
No however minor it would seem, it was the kelp harvested and processed in the great manifactorums, processed into the grey slab know as the Imperial guards standart field ration, that proved their undoing.
Horus wanted the supply lines to holy Terra cut and so signed the death penalty for Arda VII, or so he thought.
As the legionnaires of the fourteenth legion made planet fall, crashing down upon the temple of His Decent, build were the Emperor first stepped boots on Ardanian soil. They were meet by the amassed armies of all three families.
On the seventh day, as the sun rose behind the veil of rain, the desperate defenders threw all and the last they had at the Death guard in a last desperate attempt to save their home.
It is said that were the mightiest warriors had failed and countles soldiers given their life, it was a blind choir singer, a young girl who trust herself upon the Captain of the Death guards blade.
Her sacrifice in the name of the Emperor that turned the tide of battle. The Death Guard was routed and the young girl honoured as a saint, layed upon a shield and carried in procession into the ruined temple.

[b]Post-Heresy

After the heresy, the Centaur system prospered.
For millenniums there was peace, the tithe was paid in troops and rations.
Were the enemy had been denied over the ruins of His Decent's temple, a towering temple city grew and grew, they named the city Talos, the local word for worship.
The bloodied field were more than a million men and women of the guard gave their life, a large cemetery was erected the Field of Martyrs drew in hundred of thousands of pilgrims every Terran year.
The ecclesiarchy grew strong and the people of Arda grew righteous of faith, for generations all was as good as it can be in a galaxy of horrors, in an empire riffed with wars and were injustice is the norm of the day.

Day of the Rok.

One day, without warning, a shadow fell over Arda VII. Gargantuan rocks fell from the sky smashing into the northern hemisphere.
Ork roks, and from them spilled an endless horde of green skinned xeno's. they swept over the land crushing all beneath spiked boots.
For two years did the tide of green drown then continent, creeping like a glacier down from the north, engulfing manifactorums, kelp fields and worker camps.
Worst of all was the lost contact to the Temple city of Talos
Millions perished and the PDF was unable to do anything but slow down the horde, an entire tithe worth of guardsmen lost their life trying to keep the Orks at bay and they succeeded.
Their sacrifices had bought enough time for reinforcement to arrive.
Amongst the more than twenty regiments of the imperial guard that made planet fall, eight was siege regiments from the Death Korps of Krieg.
With a monumental effort and at death toll counting in the millions, a neutral zone, the aptly named Death Zone was erected.
Stretching from east to west more than two hundred kilometers broad a zone of land was shelled, bombed and gassed for more than four years, unrelenting and without mercy.
But the orks was stopped. And after six years of brutal war of attrition the Orks was pushed back to the northern mountain and the liberation of the lost land could begin.

Now.
The reclamation for now advance through the mud and rain, tracks grinding and boot pounding along the avenues of Talos's outer districts.
Reclaiming what was once lost, at the only price this galaxy knows, death and blood.
Sacrifices will have to be made, but its a price the 113th is willing to pay.
Cause after all, only in death does these men find atonement.

"In life, war. In death, peace. In life, shame. In death, atonement."

The 113th Death Korps of Krieg, siege Regiment.

Lead by Colonel Echo, he is supported by a command squad, consisting of battle scared veterans and a Commisar.
While Colonel Echo are an officer drawn from the rank and file, he does stand out amongst his fellow Krieg commanders.
The ability to listen and take others opinion and expertise into account, even some times make a tactical withdrawal instead of just finding redemption in the first and best trench.
There is a depth to be paid, and it will be paid in blood, but the price paid for have to be as worthy as possibly.
So while his korpsmen have found redemption in three campaigns, Colonel Echo still searches for that one, big sacrifice that will redeem him.
By his side since the 113th previous campaign stands Commissar Suttung, a quite, thought full man.
But when the fighting starts, he becomes a flurry of death, cutting his way through the enemies of man like a scythe of death, while he signs the litanies of the Emperor and inspires lesser men to wall through the gates of hell.

-Colonel Echo and the 1st Company command squad, together with Commissar Suttung.

Colonel Echo scanned the dug in positions through his macnoculars, the trenches were long stretching as far as the naked eye could see, cutting through the gargantuan graveyard.
More than seventeen hundred korpsmen were dug in, for every twenty man or so a heavy weapon lit up the darkness of the early dawn. A carpet of red las fire rolled from the trenches and cut through the incoming hoard of green skins.
The tide of green spilling back and forth.
"On the right flank Colonel, near the algae covered pond, Trukks"
Commissar Suttungs voice was calm as he pointed out the ork trukks rushing from the inner ruins of Talos.
"Krautz, have the 8th mortar fire at grid vamillion, order; Danger close. Good spot mein herr Commissar"
Lieutenant Krautz complied, quickly relaying the Colonels orders through the vox.
Colonel Echo nodded to Commissar Suttung, then turned his macnoculars to the rushing trukks, just in time to see them be obliterated by a rolling barrage of mortar fire, the bruning wrecks sending shrapnel and wreckage in over the krieg line.
"This is a good line Colonel, a good position"
Suttung lowered his own macnoculars.
"It is Mein herr Commissar, and this line will be held"

-3th. Recon, 113th Siege Regiment. Captain Alpha og Commissar Kraufmann.

The pale, almost transparent horses sprinted through the rubble filled streets.
From both sides the green skinned xenos can be heard, roaring, shouting orders and chanting war songs in their guttural language.
From within a burned out and crumbled ecclesiarchy writing hall, a hand full of the bulky ork burst out into the street, crude guns and broad cleavers. Captain Alpha hears the scream of pain as one of the solid slugs tear one of his death riders from his sadel.
Then they barrel into the greens skins, Captain Echo swings his saber, decapitating an ugly, scarred ork, he shots another across the street, his plasma pistol hisses as it vents, the orks head, left arm and most of the left side of its chest, is sprayed all over the wall as boiling body fluids.
On his left Commissar Kermain expertly cuts down a swath of orks, finishing off an especially ugly ork waving a crude totem over its head, Commissar Kermain shots it twice as he passes by, the bolts from his ornate bolt pistol detonates first the totem and then the thick skull of the xeno.
The orks are filling the street, but the 3th. recon cuts through them like a wedge in dry wood. finally they brust through the ork ranks and into the open space of the Field of Martyrs
As they made it out into the open Captain Alpha raised his saber, the column of racing beasts turned and once more plowed into the onrushing orks.

-Quartermaster 695.85113Vlak with Servitors.

The smoke waves over the crater, the smell of burned flesh hangs in the air, but there is no screams, there never is.
Around him the next line of infantry advances, without paying him and the two hooded servitors any heed, they take up position in the trench, which is a good deal wider now.
As they ignorer him, focused on their task, so do they ignore the mangled bodies in the crater, limbs torn or twisted in unnatural angles, guts and gore glistering on the broken headstones.
85113Vlak kneels down next to one the limp bodies, quickly and expertly running his hand over the korpsmans kit, leaving the torn breather and perforated helmet.
Also the greatcoat is torn beyond salvaging, but the monitor unit seems intact, as 85113Vlak tugs in the unit, the kropsman groans, its a stifled groan of pain, behind one of the shadered, green eye lenses there is a grey eye staring back at him.
The korpsman groans again, weakly and suppressed, as 85113Vlak gently removes the monitor unit and gets to his feet, handing the unite over to the nearest servitor, he unholstered his laspistol.

"Blessed are those who walks to him with honour.
Blessed be thou who is now absolved from the sin of the past.
Honour to those who gave their life in his service.
In life, war. In death, peace. In life, shame. In death, atonement"

The shot burns its way through the shadered eye lense and exites through the back of the korpsmans skull, hissing in the mud.
85113Vlak orders the servitors to salvage webbing and remaining ammo clips.
He then turns towards a low moan from the opposite side of the crater.

-Cyclops demolition vehicle and Master of Ordnance.2th. Support Company, 113th Siege Regiment.

"I still do not understand sir? the filthy beast cannot read and even if they could, they hardly have the time to read it before it's too late?"
714.45113Mekil stares emotionless at the old, bald officer, who is busy writing, with beautifully gothic letters "For Talos, For The Emperor" on the bulky miniature tank.
"But I would know"
the old one answers.
He is from the PDF, but 45113Mekil have the greatest respect for him, the man knows all there is to know about ballistic trajectories and artillery warfare.
It doesn't matter that he have been assigned to the 113th. after their own Master of Ordnance found atonement a few weeks earlier.
"Should we bet on how many she takes with her, two rations?"
asked the old one.
"She?"
said 45113Mekil and looked uncomprehendingly at the machine, then around the tarpaulin covered, makeshift motor pool, there is no one there but the two and the little machine whose engine is buzzing.
"She, who sir?"
"forget it"
The old one says and shakes his head.

As well as hopefully uploading some battle reports i'll end my post with some, lets call it teasers of whts on the table right now

Greatings Dakka's
It's been a while since I've uploaded.
Ain't because I've been lazy, but some times life gets in the way, between field exercises and participating in the whole parenthood thing.
But I have made some all around progress, I have a brigade worth of Krieg, most of which is at least base coated, well except for my Death riders, who takes a good while to paint.

I have however found some time to get the boys on the table, they scored a glorius victory over some greenskins, my thudd gun was the unit of the match, breaking up those giant mobs of slugga/choppa boyz, making the clean up a walk in the park. Coming in second is the Death riders, those guys arent kidding around, with an officer and a command squad they are a serious threat.

The yearly tournament, Heroes of legend, went so and so, 7th out of 12th. But some of my opponents new what they were doing. When they role those ETC dices, you start regretting building your list based on whats cool and painted.
But I learned a lot, especially about locking down my deployment zone and guarding my artillery.
So not a total waste.
Once more the Death riders needs honorarble mentioning as my only "Deep strike" unit they really earned back their points, killing razor backs and my death rider Commisar holding his own agains Shrike, scoring a line breaker.

But enough rambeling picture time!

The booming staccato of the heavy bolters almost drowned out coarse roars of the orks.
259.85411Livik had just finist reloading the bolters as the ork popped up out of nowhere, the beast was wearing crude night vison goggles and a pair of camo patterend pants, in purple.
It raised an enormous klaw, narrowly missing Livik, who took advantage of the opening and after a short burst from his las gun, jammed the bayonet into the beasts throat, thick red blood gussing out in powerfull sprayes. Livik gave it another stab, to be sure and then two more for the holey Emperor. "Running dry" Yelled 459.82351Ivenko, Livik turned and started opening the next ammo box

The hulking ork towered over the rest of his mob, roaring and gesturing with his powerfull klaws.
The armor was chipped and scratched, it looked nigh impenetrable.
"Wait the it to roar again!, aim for its mouth!"
The rocket streaked out as the ork bellowed an order in its gutural language.
It looked suprised as the rocket smashed in its teeth and the jet of liquid metal from the anti tank rocket burned through the back of it's skull and out the back of the armor.

Well thats it for this time, im gonna try an be better to upload.
The heavy weapons teams are some ive been working on for some time
Sadly there are only two of each, since im lacking inspiration for both the third heavy bolter and missile launcher.
So if you guys have any idears, leets hear

[sup]- .1 squad, Krieg combat engineers "K9's Tunnel dogs"[/sup]
The dust from the massive drills whirling blades haden't even begone to settle before a torrent of fire roared through the breach, ingulfing the realing greenskins, burning skin from flesh and melting flesh from bones. The fire died, and in the blink of an eye and to the stacato beat of barking shotguns, the engineers pushed through, blowing limbs off left and right as they quickly pushed through the old scribtorum barracks. They made it almost halfway through the building before a counter atack was mounted, suddenly the corridors flooded with greenskins of all sizes, wielding crude buther kinfes and bulky pistols they advanced on the korpsmen. "Grenades out" Watch master K-9 barked and soon the complex was flooded in a thick mustard yellow fog.
Greenskins coughed and stumbled around clawing at their throats and eyes, the engineers made short work of the remnants, quickly distributing the Emprors justice.

Thats a little something, my project ain't dead by any means, but simply just haven't found the time to take pictures and edite them.
Ive added Engineers to my army, they are second only to the death riders in beauty and pure grimdarkness.
Death riders of which I have added some ten more models and planning on a ton more!
im gonna start on adding some armor soon, but for now its riders, riders and infantry.

A fellow korpsman on facebook part of the Dkok group, used my heavy flamer engineers for a little photoshop magic, enjoy!
