Can a Chaos army using the World Eater chapter trait even include Blood Letters to summon? Since they can't take the Legion trait, they would remove the ability of the army to use the trait correct?

Similarly, you can't really get around this by using a second detachment of Khorne can you? Does every unit used in the army need the World Eater keyword regardless of the number of detachments?

Painted armies:

Orks: 11000 points
Marines: 9500 points
Khorne Marines: 2500 points
Khorne Demons: 1500 points

If the Bloodletters are included as a Troops choice in your World Eaters detachment, then you lose your Legion trait.

Bloodletters chosen as part of a detachment can't be summoned. If you want to summon you just leave them out of your list entirely, but make sure you have enough leftover points to buy the unit. When you use the Daemonic Ritual ability in-game, it will use those points to bring a new unit onto the board.

For example lets say I'm playing a 2000pt game. I make a 1500pt World Eaters army and leave 500pts off my list. I can now summon 500pts worth of Daemons throughout the game, and because my detachment is pure World Eaters I gain all the bells and whistles that come with it.

I'm pretty sure that the Legion trait is per detachment and the relevant keywords.

So, let's say you had 3 detachments: 1 made up of entirely Chaos Khorne Heretic Astartes World Eaters keywords; 1 made up of entirely Chaos Khorne Daemons; 1 is made up of a mixture of CSM WE and Khorne Daemons, sharing just the keywords Chaos Khorne.

You could bring those detachments as part of 1 big army as they all share at least 1 common keyword, but in this case 2: Chaos Khorne

The detachment that, for every unit, has the keyword World Eaters can take the World Eaters Legion trait.

The other 2 attachments can't because neither of them can take the keyword World Eaters since they are made up of entirely daemons or a mixture of daemons and Worlds Eaters.

I hope what I said makes sense.

EDIT: But you could bring just a detachment made up of just World Eaters and still be able to summon daemons and take the Legion trait.

It all really depends on what units you want to bring to the field and what kind of detachments you can make with them.

You can still take the keyword World Eaters in a mixed detachment, you just won't benefit from the Legion trait or objective secured bonuses.

There is a certain Risk-Reward element to summoning:
These Units do not count against your Detachments, they can be 'Deep Struck' into position mid-game and you decide exactly which of the able-summoned Units you require at the time of summoning.
Of course, you could fail that dice roll right when you need it... and the right Unit in the right place at the right time, that is a lot more situational then you would think!

8th made it so I can no longer sway Tau onto the side of Chaos, but they will eventually turn aside from their idea of the Greater Good to embrace the Greatest of pleasures.
