So the Ghost Ark appears to be out of stock at almost every online shop that I've visited -- one even says that it is no longer being distributed by GW.

Does this mean we may dare hope to get a new model soon?

GW just gave it a nice boost with the 8E rules, so I can't imagine it's going away . . .

1. Why is a new model necessary?
2. Boost? New Ghost Ark is terrible. It isn't open topped anymore which basically takes out any point of using it with the current index rules.

Loads of things are disappearing from various parts of the GW online store. It's being repacked with the new sheets and stuff, that's all. You'll also notice that if you change the shipping country of your GW shop, there's a good chance you'll find it available there. Swedish shop has it available, so I guess they have some more in stock here before they need the new repacks.

Except there's proven metrics that people don't read stickies.

I searched the forums With a few different terms, but nothing on point came up, which prompted me to post the question myself.

I sincerely apologize for offending the great and mighty.

Did models out of stock ever reveal anything unknown?

It was specifically one shop saying "This product is no longer being distributed by Games Workshop" that raised my eyebrows.

Yeah they are definitely repacking. They are redoing the Dark Eldar for example to read Drukhari.

Well, its not open topped anymore so there's no point in having a big gaping hole in it that just screams "please, shoot me here! Shooot me!" isn't necessary.
But that might just be my bias against terrible 5th ed necron vehicle design.

It's probably just getting rules in the box, which is what GW appears to be doing nowadays.

UK

I'd go by the UK GW store (since that is where they are based). Anything that is out of sock is fine, its just low on stock (And GW has been hit hard by massive sales of products across all ranges - don't forget normally they've released 1 faction at a time so had time to build up stock - this time they've done the whole range at once so its a huge mass of sales increases). It's out of stock and no longer availiable that you have to worry about - but only on the UK GW Store - other stores (esp 3rd party) might just be a miss listing on their system.

To date I know Tyranids have lost their Swarm Boxed set but all the models themselves are still sold.

It also applies to the UK stores; the item being reboxed will have a different ID or something. Legally, it's a completely different product. Realistically, it's the same sprues with (sometimes) the same base in a fancier box, sometimes with a price hike.

Seriously this happens like, once a week. Although it usually happens on a Thursday (which is when such things go out of stock; the website gets updated on Saturday so I guess that's when they "clean house" so to speak).

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.

No Escape wasn't really an issue for Warriors though outside Heavy Flamers. The Ghost Ark gave them mobility and a safe place to fire from. Without it being open topped, it isn't worth using.

I was just referring to point 1. If its not open topped anymore there's no reason for the model itself to have any openings. Sorry I wasn't clear.
The Ghost Ark is indeed worse as a transport, to the point where they should really just scrap the transport feature all together and just make it really good at repairing warriors.

Yes, that product is discontinued.

They need to be able to differentiate between the new box and the old box so they have different SKUs. As far as the stock control system is concerned these are completely separate products.

Thanks guys - I guess being away from the hobby for a few years made me forget the rule about not trying to divine significance from normal GW weirdness
