Subject: Options for sheathed power swords?
|
 |
Death-Dealing Devastator
|
I want to model some of my minis with sheathed power swords. The problem is that I can't find any that would fit my requirements.
- Ultramarine upgrade pack - nope, the sword is out of the sheath plus it's a gladius, and I want a longsword.
- Black Templar upgrade pack - would be perfect (has a sword in a sheath with scrollwork wound around it). I had two and I used them both. And those have gone extinct a long time ago.
- Chaos Warriors: the sword in the sheath is too large (even for Primaris) and it's meant to be a decoration (so it's flat on one side and looks like it's meant to be glued to a flat surface).
- Khorne Berserkers scimitars in a scabbard: a definite maybe but I'd prefer a longsword.
- Sculpt my own scabbard: no go, I'm not good enough.
You can probably tell I've looked. Does anyone have any suggestions for a sheathed sword that I could use?

Sternguard Veterans kit has an awesome Power Sword being held in its scabbard.
Or http://anvilindustry.co.uk/The-Armoury/Close-Combat-Weapons/Gladius-Conversion-Set
Try that ^^^

Betrayal at calth has some sheathed swords, and I think some came with scout bikers. Might have some luck in the fantasy range as well.

Those aren't quite power swords though, they're more swords or big knives. I'd imagine they'd work though.

Yeah they're quite large...perhaps gladius-sized, and would probably work for the aesthetic.

Thanks to everyone for answers so far.
About the Sternguard sword: that was my first thought, but the arm doesn't match the Primaris arms... so being a clever sort I tried to clip it out and replace the hilt with a different hilt, and buggered up a perfectly good bit.
Any kind of gladius is a no go, I'm looking for longswords (a little under 3cm from hilt to tip). BaC knives are too short too (DAMNIT!)
I'm starting to think I'm after something that doesn't exist. Might have to give up and either 1) use some kind of axe or mace since those don't require a scabbard or 2) just go with the ol' sword in hand thing. Which has its own issues due to Primaris' hands being just a hair bigger than standard hands but not big enough to use Terminator bits.. First world problems...

Yeah I think so! Maybe I can find a mold or something, IDK.
Could you take a picture of your primaris with the SG sword from the side if it isn't too much trouble?
