The whole death guard army is still sitting in the box waiting behind other projects but I couldn't help myself and had a play with one of the rhinos.

Basecoat silver then dark read.
Splashed with Ryza rust.
Splottled with liquid masking using a sponge.
Bone/brown to panels.
Liquid masked panels.
Basecoated black and drybrushed greens.
Added some death guard imagery.
Removed liquid masking using blu-tak (see technique @ http://chestofcolors.com/rust-and-chipped-paint/)
Added some decals and scratched them up a bit.
Dashed model with Agrax Earthshade.
Tracks/gun painted gunmetal and washed in Nuln.
Drybrushed model with Necron Compound.
Added earth to tracks and red to gun. Skull added hanging under gun as an afterthought.

Looking at the model I wish I had done the DG stripe down the doors to break up the black.. It was more of a have-a-go at the rust/chipping technique and try out the black colour scheme.. C&C?

Of all the Death Guard I've seen, this really grabs me. I really like the bruised look on the lighter colour.

The three skull Nurgle symbol is a great touch as well. Good stuff!

I love to see models get a little dirty, dust, rust, mud'n'blood. You have done a lovely job with this, looks really authentic and gritty.

Love it! The weathering is fantastic and fits the Death Guard very well. Looks to me like it's from a time (maybe 5K years ago) when they still resembled space marines more than the looked tainted by Nurgle like they do now.

Great weathering, and a nicely subdued paint scheme.

Thanks all! To me rhinos, of all the mechanised units, would cop a lot of wear and tear - when I saw the rusting tutorial (linked above) I decided to have a go. Am happy with the result and now am pondering painting the marines to match
