Good evening dakka!

This is my test base for the necron army I am building and I'm looking for some C&C on how I can improve the effect!

In particular I don't think I'm as happy as I could be with the blood effect. Maybe if it looks a little more clear? or should I switch to a green (generic toxic ooze) type effect?

also any tips on making the immortal look better would be a sweet bonus!

are they on a Corn world?

the blood would make sense for a bunch of flayed ones.

only thing id say is put some blood splatter on the the legs.

well the blood looks like blood, tho why it'd be next to a bunch of stripped skulls doesn't make a lot of sense to me (which is fine, it's your story, it can be whatever you want!) I agree some splatters would be good, if you want the 'freshly slaughtered' look, over the skulls as well. Easy way to do that is to set base up at angle, use an old brush (like a drybrush) or a toothbrush (easiest), get some paint on it, test it a bit on spare paper then flick the edge with your thumb to cover the model where you want it to go. It's not an exact science tho if you don't want it somewhere, block it off.

What are you using for the blood? Blood for the Blood God? It's one of the best imo.

Personally would use Tamya clear red

probably in the long run cheaper than bftbg though its not a bad paint at all and is waterbased rather than alcohol based.

Well another option would be making it like a green sludge and having sweet necron skulls sticking out!!

Agreed. This comes down to your story. There is background for a nurgle infested hive world. (Scary thought). Or you could do a Khorne world. Green bases would make your shoulders stand out more.

That's kind of what I was thinking. In all honesty I picked the bone fields bases for a "Terminator" motif

but they are sold for use with water effects and like...how could I resist?

well I'm gonna use the underside of a slotta base to test ways of doing green slimyness. Then if I find one I like maybe have some necron crystals partially submerged.
