I'm considering a Slaanesh chaos army as I think the colour scheme will be fun. However, I'm not too sure on the lore, chaos units and the units gw sells. What would be a lore friendly 40k list for them (about 1500 points) that is fun to play but would actually be a slaanesh/ Emperor's children army?

Slaanesh is about taking everything to excess. So you could really build an army based around anything, but overdo it. You could have a Slaaneshi warband dedicated purely to close combat/shooting/noise marines etc.
Add lots of sex, drugs and rock and roll and you should be fine.
Traditionally they are a more mobile, close quarters army with a good mix of assault and mid ranged weaponry. Not unlike the way Space Wolves play, but with more emphasis on shooting.

They can be very Shooty, but their Chapter Trait favors Close combat. With Emperors Children you'll never have to spend CP to interrupt a combat. They also have a very powerful daemon prince build with the Elixir and warlord trait.

Frightnening Fiend of Slaanesh

I'm building a Emperors Children army and I like taking a spearhead detachment with 2 x units of warp talons and a unit of raptors with a sorcerer in terminator army to keep them company.
I want to add some nosie marines in to my battalion detatment, those extra 3 CP's really help with using stratagems. I try to get a Demon prince and sorcerer for the HQ in these and have the Demon Prince as the warlord, Nightlord1987 is right he can be a beast.
Then to add up to 1500 pt's I'm going to add in a vanguard detachment with 2 units of possessed and a unit of chosen with a couple of power weapons in a rhino. I like to try to take a dark apostle with these for their HQ.
Can squeeze about 8 CP's out of that.
I've also added a couple of my HQ's into my gallery that are in my Emperors children varient scheme, my misses hates the pink / black combo so i know i must have it a little right!!

Sonic Dreadnought, if it's still legal.
THINGS SHALL GET LOUD.
Also if money permits, you should try a unit of 10 combi-terminators Deepstriking and using Endless Cacophony, if only for the look on your opponent's face when he asks "you get HOW MANY DICE!?"

I have been running EC since 4th and this edition I feel like we really have come into our own.
My normal army is a battalion of cultist(12 each), a battalion of noise marine squads (6 each) and usually a vanguard of sonic dreads and sometimes a jp lord with plasma termis.
So far I can hit about everything I want hard at range or close combat. The prince with the elixir+diabolic strength will shred anything in the game though I tend to use the extra wound+6+ fnp trait on him.
But it is a really fun army and you can use almost anything in the codex to a really good effect.

Forge World no longer sells that one, so it's Ebay or scratch build.
Fortunately it's pretty easy. And can be pretty cheap depending on how far you wanna go with it. The Gargoyle heads on the Chaos Vehicle sprue is enough to make Blastmaster lookalikes, but if you want actual blastmasters you can order a set from GW, lop the back end off and glue it to a de-barreled lascannon arm (it should be the lascannon or plasma cannon arm for the cables).
And 1D4chan pointed out that it's technically two blastmasters, not twin blastmasters, so they're technically two separate weapons.

This is the Sonic Dreadnought. Note that despite the FW errata saying it's two Blastmasters, those are actually Sonic Blasters (which was the original option). The blastmaster one actually looks like this:
But note how it only has one Blastmaster. I think FW sold out of the blastmaster arm first and forgot that the other one was actually sonic blasters, and renamed it as two Blastmasters.
Also in both cases the dreadnought has Doom Sirens built on it, but I forgot if that was an option. It also has FW's chainfist attachment.

It was part of FW's old "Legion Dreadnoughts" thing, before Contemptors became all the rage. You should check out the other ones too (there was one made for each legion and loyalist founding chapter). They were pretty cool.

The problem is that due to Helbrutes being unreliable for so many editions, that thing didn't sell nearly as well as you'd think. So there's not many copies floating out there sadly. For the time being it might be easier to just convert one of the fleshy helbrutes.

I think you'll really like the Emperor's Children. As someone already said, they've come into their own in this edition. They're flexible, because they can throw lots of dice at the enemy in both the shooting and fight phases. Endless Cacaphony on a 10-man Noise Marine squad loaded with sonic weapons is fun.
-I think it all starts with Noise Marines. That's your cult marine. You don't have to kit them with the sonic guns. Pistols and chainswords work just fine if you want your troopers to have that 'duelist' feel. Flawless Perfection and Music of the Apocalypse are built in powers, and make these guys fearsome.
-I think that Chaos Terminators and Bikers go well with an Emperor's Children army, especially in the case of Bikers, since one of the old special characters for the Third Legion was a biker - Doom Rider.
-Helbrutes also work well with Emperor's Children, since their Crazed special rule is similar to Noise Marines special rule Music of the Apocalypse; the Fire Frenzy stratagem is basically Endless Cacaphony for Helbrutes - and again, Helbrutes are nice in shooting or fight phases. Emperor's Children had their very own Sonic Dreadnought that others have talked about.
-Emperor's Children Demon Princes are incredible. They definitely fit an Emperor's Children army because, if everything is in excess, then daemonhood is the ultimate end.
-Also, while it's not helpful vs Xenos and Chaos faction, the Banner of Excess is really really good! I have a Banner of Excess on each of my squads, which usually amounts to about 50 points total, and when I play against the Imperial faction, these banners really become priceless. Banner of Excess combined with the Prescience psychic power, oh my....
-In general, I think the Emperor's Children are pretty wide open when it comes to interpreting their lore. They often get pigeon-holed into over-sexualized or effete imagery, but I don't see them that way. I see them as truly the darkest of the four cults, since they indulge and revel in every sin the warp can conjur.

Indeed. While Khorne is about Martial Pride, Nurgle is about the spread of Decay and finality and Tzeentch is about scheming, planning and the bigger picture, Slaanesh's entire motive is "because I can".

I'd say it's more "because I want to".
Also does anyone remember the original noise marines had guitars? They were fun models. I knew someone who used them and found some models with drums and a keyboard to make a band of noise marines.

Yes and they are awesome models. I have 5 of them.
I wish we could go back to the next generation after that, with the huge backbacks and garish guns. I don't like the current accessory packs, nothing stands out about them.
