Monstrously Massive Big Mutant

So, i'm using a Balrog after talking with some people about it, and a few people have said the size difference is too harsh for them because they think it'll give me an unfair cover advantage.
To actually fix this issue, I was thinking of putting my model's base over top of a cliff made of some sort of clay or green stuff. What material would be best for a reasonably large amount of 'rocky' material? Give or take 4x4 inches, and about 3-4 inches tall.

Make a piramid of cork and recover it with:
https://www.games-workshop.com/en-CA/Citadel-Skulls-2017
That was what I did with my metal Bloodthirsters so he was at the same height as the new one. A giant cork piramid, and then I glued skulls all over it (Don't make a literall piramid of skulls, it will be very expensive and nobody is gonna see the skulls in the middle)

Dakka does have White Knights and is also rather infamous for it's Black Knights. A new edition brings out the passionate and not all of them are good at expressing themselves in written form. There have been plenty of hysterical responses from both sides so far. So we descend into pointless bickering with neither side listening to each other. So posting here becomes more masturbation than conversation.

When I did rocks for bases we used plaster. Make a sand mould then pour it in. Let it dry then break off what you need. Check out my Be'Lakor in my gallery for an example.

Some kind of air drying putty sounds good. I've got a box of krayola stuff (like a pound of it for $4) that I'm going to try out this week on some HWS bases. But any sort of air dry clay or putty should work. For what you're doing though it might add too much weight. Corkboard is a good answer for that then. You buy the big flat pieces from the office store, and you can just chop it up and layer it with normal PVA glue.

Show them the size of the original (and still perfectly legal) Bloodthirster then encourage them to get over your perfectly reasonable counts-as.

Wholeheartedly agree with this.
The Balrog model is actually BIGGER than the perfectly legal to use old metal/finecast 'Thirster.
But putting it on some cork or wood slabs would go a long way towards easing their concerns. You might be able to just go outside an pick up some wood/mulch stuff that is put around bushes and trees in public areas.

I would go looking for an actual large rock to perch him on. This way the rock acts both to give him height and also as a weight to keep the center of gravity low, so it doesn't tip over. if you pose Balrog more upright, you can use a relatively smaller rock (so you don't have something like a 5 pound boulder on your miniature).

While that thirster is small I actually mean the earlier one which isn't much larger than a terminator.
