Subject: Death Guard: Cloth color that works with Druchii Violet?

I'm experimenting with a paint scheme for Death Guard, and I've got the base color (Terracotta), accents (Brass) and flesh (light Caucasian) worked out. All work fantastic with Druchii Violet. All I need is a cloth color that will work with the same wash. Any suggestions, or should I just go with purple?

I'd suggest having some contrast in there, and having something not washed with purple, personally. Perhaps a green for the cloth.
But if you wanted to keep the purple wash, you could wash the green with the purple and get a nice bruised cabbage colour from it.
Or maybe a darkish blue colour, which would work with the terracotta.

My initial impulse was a mustard yellow, as I wanted to maintain 'warm' tones, but also earthen colors. It's not a good color to wash over, though. At least it would be a decent contrast. Part of me wants to try a saffron for the strong contrast.
I'd like to avoid green. My old Death Guard army was green, my Salamanders are green, and it's hard to find a green with good coverage. Blue might work, but it's not really a color you'd associate with Death Guard. I may try some Kantor Blue and see how that goes. Automatically Appended Next Post: Did some fiddling about. Blue won't work, it looks very wrong with Terracotta and brass. Green works with the purple wash as you mentioned (you get a cabbage-y effect), but it took several coats of green to get decent cover. I tried a mustard yellow/desert tan and it would probably work fantastic for poxwalkers, as once the purple wash goes on it looks very much like congealed fat, but as a cloth, not too great.
I may end up just using the flesh color for cloth, on the basis that the Death Guard use the skin of the dead for robes because they're scary. Color contrast can come from colorful pustules painted on after the washes are finished.
Anyways, here's an image of my trial scheme in action. I found I need to use Agrax Earthshade in conjunction (before) Druchii Violet to get the full effect, though.

"bruised cabbage colour" LOL! I'm going to have to try that combo just to see what it looks like....

That looks really good. If you've gone with flesh cloth robes then perhaps for the larger area robes you could look up a bunch of skin conditions from sickness and plagues and use them for champions.
It's less relevant now that you've made your choice but here are a couple of pics of my guard who have druchii washed fabric, the fabric was painted using mechanicus standard grey and highlighted with astonmican grey, or whatever the current versions are:

I considered grey, but my Tau are relentlessly grey. But I love the matching terrain for your army!

Thanks, I have a RoB board painted up all in blue earth and stone and a few more purple grass/foliage pieces to go on it.
I think you are onto a winner with your colour scheme in the test photo, it looks really good and I like the purple sword.

Thanks. This morning I came to the realization that I'm effectively painting steampunk Plague Marines (leather and brass), what with the goggle-eyed masks and all.
I may have to fiddle with the base color. At the moment I'm using Vajello Terracotta with a VJ Air Wood zenithal, and it makes touching up the basecoat in the case of mistakes nearly impossible. It ends up nearly like GW's old Beasty Brown (Mournfang Brown now? I think?), so I might as well skip the middle man as the zenithal isn't achieving much after several layers of shade.
