Hey guys,

I like the idea of a full jump pack only list for blood angels. It may struggle with vehicle heavy lists but let me know what you guys think

5 Command points

Outrider detachment

HQ
Librarian (152 Pts)
-inferno pistol
-axe

Chaplin (110 Pts)
-inferno pistol

Fast attack
3x assault squad (5 man) (390 Pts)
-thunder hammer / plasma pistol / melta bomb
-2x flamer
-2x bolt pistol / chain sword

Vanguard detachment

HQ
The Sanguinor (170 Pts)

Elites

2x Sanguinary Guard (4 man) (184 Pts)
-1x death mask
-2x sword
-2x axe

Sanguinary Guard Ancient (108 Pts)
-sword
-death mask

Vanguard veteran squad (5 man) (202 Pts)
-thunder hammer / plasma pistol
-thunder hammer / storm shield / melta bomb
-3x thunder hammer / storm shield

Ive used the points from the codex where i could (don't know if you can do that or not but i did).

so i have a heap of thunder hammers + melta bombs for vehicles, flamers for horde, librarian for psycher stuff.

How i think i would play it would be the sanguinary guard + the sanguinor will deep strike in. the chaplin would go up with the vanguard squad and the librarian would props go the same. the assault squads would go for objectives and kill stuff where able.

any advise would be great.

cheers

Blood angels still use their index. They cant use anything from the SM codex. Its a very fluffy list, but pretty useless. If your fail your charges (your chance of making it is only 28%) you will do pretty much nothing, except a little bit of shooting. You need more guns, and less CC weapons. If you fail the charge you still have had some ranged attacks. Company veterans with storm bolters are very effective against basic infantry, with overcharging plasmaguns and a captain to reroll 1s, they are effective against pretty much everything, even tanks.

damn ok well drop the melta bombs on the assault squads and the death masks its its the correct points.

I don't think theres much point in playing super competitive lists. obviously wouldn't bring this to a tournament. hopefully when the codex comes out they can get re roll charges or something similar like the tyranids. and obviously you can charge from a closer range the outside 9 inches.

Thank you for the feed back though i will keep it in mind. I quite like the idea of flamer, inferno pistols, and CCWs though :/

Sure, the idea is cool. But if you dont make the charge the points are wasted. Competitive or not, its no fun (at least for me) when your units sit there and cant do anything because you didnt roll a 9. Hopefully BA will get better at deepstriking and charging when the codex is out.

Deep striking and charging won't fix anything. BA need better shooting to clear out screens.

BA is not primarily about shooting. BA is a CC army.

I have run a 1500 point Death Company army (naked jump chaplain + 60 jump DC with thunder hammers).

I start with everything on the board, and just advance turn 1.

It's been extremely effective.

"'players must agree how they are going to select their armies, and if any restrictions apply to the number and type of models they can use."

This is an actual rule in the actual rulebook. Quit whining about how you can imagine someone's army touching you in a bad place and play by the actual rules.

Thats pretty extreme. Why only one chaplain ? He cannot buff all DC units.

Don't be afraid of screeners. Only a few armies have them and usually only tournaments lists abuse them.

If you want to use SM Stratagems then you will need to take a regular Codex Space Marines Detachment as well.

I would consider taking a Salamanders detachment as Blood Angels and Salamanders fighting together is very Lore appropriate and thematic. Plus the models will contrast well on the tabletop. Salamanders are highly versatile to boot so will shore up any weaknesses in your army.

Last time I checked, our BS is 3+. Seems like a pretty good basis for a shooting list. Just do what I'm doing and ignore all BA-specific units for now.

Everyone I play with has caught on to this. There is a fine line indeed between "functional army" and "abuse". BA need to have a plan for screens. Period.

You play in a very competitive meta I assume. But only 4-5 among the 20+ factions/subfactions have highly effective screeners.

Any screen basically ruins the BA's day, though. Even bad ones.

Any points spend on anything else makes it impossible to both have enough guys to completely envelop the opponent (so you can ignore screens), and have enough guys that you can lose a lot going in and still have enough guys.

And by ignore, I mean you can charge the whole army at once. Only AM can fully screen an entire army, and everyone auto-loses to good AM anyway, so who cares.
