I'm new to WH40K and am wondering whether there are usually Black Friday or Christmas sales for WH40K. I plan to play mostly Space Marines (Ultramarines) and Tau, if that matters.

If by sales you mean store managers inbiting people to come in and pay normal price but hey theres other pwople there to enjoy the hobby too.

Pro tip: GW "sales" can be found on ebay.

To the point. No. No they do not.

They did once two years ago, at least in the UK; but the 'bundles' were so large, and the saving so minimal that it wasn't worth the hold out. As per Mr. Chair above; ebay is where it's at.

From memory the bundle I bought was £250 and saved me a grand total of £15 on the individual parts. TO be fair though, I wanted and used everything in it as it was basically a '1.5k mechanised guard army' with decent options.

The biggest savings you'll make on new models bought from GW is in the start collecting boxes, often by a considerable margin.

Some people find the idea that other people can be happy offensive, and will prefer causing harm to self improvement.

GW would never give sales away on their minitures that cost them cents on the dollar to produce.

Ignore the know-nothings in this thread, they're probably just oldschool butthurts.

In reality, where normal people live, GW releases pretty awesome discounted Christmas bundles. So far we've seen Tau, Orkz, and Guard.

The boxes are 170USD and save you between 30-35% off of normal price.

I'd like you to prove that :|

Last year they did a 10% sale on select items. However it seems this was not available to independent retailers (who normally give you 20% off) so it had all the result of a mouse fart since people were still doing their GW-related christmas shopping from their local stores or ebay.

Dunno if it would return this year since, again, mouse fart.

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.

Just use places like TheWarStore who give you 20% off all the time.

Boxes have been shown, prices known thanks to white dwarf. Just add up prices.

Not black friday though. Traditional yearly christmas bundles.

Proving it is really trivial.
beast_gts already showed the math for this year's, but this is normal for the end of year bundles (and most battalion and battle force boxes of the past)- you do end up paying less than if you bought everything individually.

But they generally don't have a 10% (or whatever) sale to placate the Bearded Red Hood God, no. So if you're looking for something other than what's in those boxes, you're out of luck.

GW themselves don't do sales, but do often do bundles - the current Da Vulcha Skwad for example is 23% cheaper than buying individually. Unfortunately their 'one-click' bundles & 'collections' don't have any savings.

Honestly, has there been any real sale? No.... The fact that most of the "sales" are pretty much the normal price of my local club (none gw club) just syas it all. Even at 33% I might as well buy the 20% because I like to support the store more and they have that price all year round. I would only go to gw if it was like %50.

Sales?, GW? never happened since I've been in the hobby.

1650 points approx. of deathwatch
2500 points aprox. of alpha legion and thousand sons
50 power admech
60 power salamanders
70 power thousand sons

The closest you will get are the start collecting sets. The Ad Mech especially is a bargain - either that or Onagers are ridiculously overpriced on their own.

Please note, for those of you who play Chaos Daemons as a faction the term "Daemon" is potentially offensive. Instead, please play codex "Chaos: Mortally Challenged". Thank you.

The bundles last year were good savings BUT they were so limited in scope - need one for each army to be fair.

How long have you been at the hobby? I started around 1998 and they actually did have them. Albeit only at GW official stores which meant I couldn't take advantage of those being in Finland but in UK there were those. You even had articles in WD where author of article mentioned taking advantage of those to get lots of stuff cheaply.

I remember them having a sale on the lead minis when they were switching over to white metal. It was a buy 3 for the price of 2 thing.

Looking at the current army deals, they're mostly decent savings...but all those savings come from the Start Collecting boxes included. The rest of the models in are full price. Was looking at the Blood Angels set but the Death Company deal they've been doing for a while works out much better savings-wise, and is cheaper to start with.

Take a look at what I've been painting and modelling: https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/0/725222.page
