The Xenos index has GSC factioned with Tyranids but that’s about it. Just curious if the new Tyranids codex would unlock anything for GSC units?

if you mean having GSC units, most likely not unless you count the Genestealer unit as one.
However, the AM FAQ indirectly leaked the GSC codex, which mentioned that the Brood Brothers rule will apparently have a weird, as of yet unknown, interaction with the <REGIMENT> faction keyword (and by association, the effects of regimental traits). What that is though is not mentioned, as again the FAQ mentions that it will be elaborated on in the codex but not what or how.

Many GSC units are able to use the Tyranid Stratagems, since most only specify they must be used by a Tyranid unit. So there's that. A couple are decent.

OK. That may be interesting to pick up the Stratagem cards then. Better than nothing for now.

I take it Purestrain genestealers in the Cult list have Tyranid?

Minor note:
It wasn't an "inadvertent" leak about the Genestealer Codex. They were asked about the interaction, they were telling people that they had to consult with the Design Studio to publish a "tide you over" FAQ until the Codex came out.
The AM FAQ also didn't really make it out to have any weirdness or anything. You replace <REGIMENT> with Brood Brothers and you can have one Astra Militarum Detachment with Brood Brothers for each Genestealer Cult Detachment; which is a Detachment where everything has the GSC keyword. So you can't take an AM Detachment if you're running a mixed Tyranid and Genestealer Cult detachment.
Also:
This is a thing for anyone who is interested in Genestealer Cult models and a pretty nice set of savings.

As long as the exact wargear configuration in DWO is the only viable way to run Neophytes and there are only 2 options included in the Acolyte kit worth considering, I dont see the GSC box holding much value.
Other than the fact that it has a goliath I suppose. But half the minis in the bundle are AM, not GSC, which is kinda irritating.

It's 10 Neophytes, 5 Acolytes, the Broodcoven(5 models), and a Goliath for the GSC side of things--the Neophyte Hybrid Squad is considered GSC rather than AM though.

Even the vehicles have the tyranid kw such as the Russ and sententials. I know of some people who are planning to make Tyranid( GSC) detachments with Russes to add to their main Tyranid army allowing them to do crazy things like cast catalyst on a Russ for the 5+++ and use the regeneration strat(from new codex) to heal them d3 W.

My guess (and hope) is that this won't work in the codex. The last thing I want is to have to add guard to my tyranids list, that is just despicable.

Genestealer Cults by definition are a mix of Imperial Guard and Tyranids. If you don't want Guard in your Tyranids don't play Genestealer Cults or IG units. Tyranids seem powerfull enough by themselves.
And probably all strange ultra-wombo combos will be destroyed by FAQ's, so they aren't worth it to build an army around them.

So posting here becomes more masturbation than conversation.

OK. That may be interesting to pick up the Stratagem cards then. Better than nothing for now.
Look into the tyranid 'pheromon trail' lictor strategem. It functions in <tyranid> but the unit needs to have be able to be placed in reserved already. So it is very good for medium ranged shooting units if the clutists have any.

That sounds like it would be something that would work. You can start with half of the GSC army off the board in "ambush".
-edit-
Looks like you need a Lictor to float it. There's a lot of good stratagems in here though (found a leaked page), and it's very easy to run GSC as a Brigade... so lots of CP to spend.

It's not using the Deathwatch Overkill loadout - we can see the Cult Icon and the Seismic Cannon held by the Neophytes.
Thus, the price breakdown:
Goliath: £35
Neophytes: £25
Broodcoven: £37.5
Acolytes: £25
Guardsmen with Conversion Sprue (Guard Themed): £25
Seperately: £147.5
Together: £100
Knowing this, this seems pretty good from what I can tell
