So it looks like they announced that the primaris marines in the new codex are going to have the "red thirst" ability because they are affected by the flaw.
This answers a couple questions we've been wondering about primaris marines

In the Dark Imperium novel it was already confirmed that Cawl fixed some of the worst offenders in the flaws of the geneseed, but some of those variations where Emperors Work (Like the Red Thirst or the Canis Helix), so he didn't touched that.

Maybe I should give that novel a read seeing as how my only input on current lore is here on Dakkadakka or when I look on a lore website

Well, a very large, red and angry Emperor's work.

They don't suffer from negatives, according to Dark Imperium. So no black rage, but they may get the thirst but will never succumb etc.

Thats kind of funny since Devestation of Baal says the exact opposite and Seth even throws a strop because of the Primaris' lack of Blood Angel flaws, calling them "Ultramarines in red armor".

The introduction the Primaris was a stupid idea. The fluff and reasoning is stupid.
They should have just been patient and just released them as new Space Marine models.

I think it's fantastic and the reasoning is sound. I think 10+ years of 13th crusade build up is pretty patient isn't it?

Which is basically what they are, regardless of chapter tactics.

I see them as similar to Centurians, unneeded and silly. (In universe)
As far as patient, I mean as far as models for for sale.

They don't have a place in the setting. They're shoe horned in to sell bigger space marine models. They add nothing to the story. They take away from the grim dark/no hope feeling of the universe.

The warhammer community actually says "Primaris Marines are – at least, so far – immune to the Black Rage" so at least there's that

Yeah. Is people really expecting that in the future we aren't gonna have Primaris Wulfen or Primaris Death Company equivalents? No way.

Aren't Wulfen already bigger in scale?
No need to primarize them.
When all the old range will be obsolete, the primaris will be retconned in the ranks.
For the moment, they avoided riots and sold models to those that already had a full marine army, or that wanted a full primaris army.
The fluff is absolutely revolting, but GW made the best choice adjusted for the player/customer base.

Generic characters disappearing? Elite units of your army losing options and customizations? No longer finding that motivation to convert?

Because they had hope. Us, the players, know there was none. But in-universe of course they need hope.

Indeed Wulfy Wulf Wolf Primaris is sadly something we will have to suffer.

I like the old Orks in Power Armour - still use 'em I also have the old Tin Boyz robots - Ork versions of Marines and Eldar

That's not true. Even without hope, there is still duty, vengeance, and a grim determination to see it through to the end.

Oh, and spite.

Lots and lots of spite.

The people in the past who convinced themselves to do unspeakable things were no less human than you or I. They made their decisions; the only thing that prevents history from repeating itself is making different ones.

I am glad that Primaris Blood Angels still suffer from the Flaw. It is only a matter of time before they make Death Company Primaris. They are only more resistant.

I actually sort of hated the old 'no hope no advancement' of the older fluff. Cause like...what's the point of following it then? EVERYTHING'S SAD FOREVER is just as boring as everything always being happy sunshine sparkles.

Not to mention that the characterization of the imperium makes it really hard to read any book about a conflict between them and other imperium factions, eldar, tau, and the random xenos subraces that pop up. They're Nazis. They're literally Nazis. And the grimdark is so dark that even Nazis are usually the good guys but when they go up against CWE and you get both sides of the story and people start refering to things as 'lesser races' and stuff...idk with recent events it's kinda uncomfortable.

So dante like the primaris and Seth hates them. I'm hoping the primaris creates a lot of internal conflicts to kinda flesh out how they are part of the chapter but almost rejected

Primaris Marines mark the end of the dark age and the beginning of the renaissance.
If this is a bad idea or not, we will see.
