I'm trying to refine my list for an upcoming tournament. Basically the idea is that the Tzaangors form up as chaff to protect my deployment zone and the two dreadnoughts while Magnus and the Fire Raptor do their flying thing. Rubrics go in the dreadclaw and secure ITC objectives (that non-degrading 15" movement on a transport is reaaally nice for this on the turn after i deep strike).

I think I have an answer for most threats here but wanted to get the advice of more experienced players on what might turn out to be problems for me and how I might remedy them.

If you will not go first Magus will die turn 1 or 2.
You need to bring Changeling - this is the only protection you have

It feels wrong to me to take the Changeling when it synergizes with literally nothing else in the list. It'd basically protect Magnus for 1 turn and do nothing for the rest of the game.

It'll help the DP. And Ahriman if he takes a disc.

Terrible misconception, Smart player, using Magnus can nullify damage turn 1 if you do not get to go first. On your turn you get to a 3++, rerolling ones, if you roll a two you just burn a cp to try to reroll.
A few people claimed a changeling is a must have, its simply not true.

Play your list, try it out. Be careful, stay back, create screens until hes buffed. Then have at it!

Honestly there is no point in running thousand some. Run them as alphaa legion and take oblitoratoes, deep strike them next to the changing enjoy a -2 to hit them. And then you can infultrate up your rubrics and give them flamers, your alpha strike will be on point.

To many unpainted models to count.

" Smart player, using Magnus can nullify damage turn 1 if you do not get to go first"

Can you expand on this? And are you referring to this against tournament standard bleeding edge lists? Even if you coat the entire side of your deployment in cheap units to prevent deepstrike AND use extensive cover - it will be A) impossible to completely obscure magnus 2) Very unlikely he will be "50%" obscured.

Some lists don't even need LoS to kill him like high level astra militarum.

As a Magnus user myself hearing we have options is nice - Genuinely curious - how are you nullifying damage?
