suddenly I have a vision of the whole grot on fire
Anyway, you could do it a couple ways, depending what paints you have. Easiest maybe might be to paint the candle white, then use yellow glaze on the flame. After that dries, put orange on from about the mid point down, then wait for it to dry. Then get red glaze onto the bottom most section. Basically you want your top and innermost middle to be the brightest 'light' and the bottom and outermost edges (but not on the top) to be the darker red flame. Hopefully that makes sense.
If you've not got glazes or don't want to do it that way you can also just do the same thing but with paints, starting again with yellow. I start with yellow as then if you do make a mistake, you're covering it with one of the darker colours anyway, so it doesn't matter as much.
You might also leave a bit of white showing at the brightest spots (tip and very middle flame). That can depend how big your flame is as well, how much room you have to work with. A candle on a grot head can't be that big tbh.
Anyway hope that helps some! good luck!
