Has anyone put Lootas in a truck this edition for survivability and/or mobility?

Yup. And all it does is waste more points. Basically you are turning them into 25pt models with 5+ bs and no real dmg.

10 lootas do about 2-4 dmg to a rhino a turn.

SemperMortis has it correct. Without the trukk they are way too fragile. With the trukk they are survivable, but their damage output per point goes from mediocre to poor. Also their mobility isn't really enhanced by the trukk, because if the trukk moves they will only hit on a 6+.

A trukk basically costs as much as a min squad of 5 lootas. I've never been a fan of embarked lootas even when trukks were 30 points. They also don't need mobility since they fire heavy weapons with a very long range.

The only way to protect your lootas decently (and they won't be a great choice anyway) is to put them in cover shielded by tons of footslogging boyz in order to pass them the LD30 and maybe keeping them out of range of some anti infantry weapons.

Maybe with many boyz you can position a painboy in a spot where he could give his FNP to lootas as well.

God dammit I am late in the game here with 8th. The dex basically precludes me from having models of the same unit at 12 models. They gotta be 10 or 15 etc. I was hoping to fit 12 a lootas in a trukk much less 12 boyz. Omfgbbq GeeDubs talk about oversight...

No it doesn't. You can field anything from min to max. Those are listed for power levels which aren't generally used to often.
