Hey all,

I am a long time player(started in RT/2nd) and Orks have been my army from the beginning. Over the years I have switched between 40k/WFB, then I coming off a break due to kids/etc.

I was wondering if anyone agreed with me in putting playable squigs back into 40k. I know they tend to be more of a fantasy unit, but squigs have always been a huge part of Ork lore. I personally would love it if they were brought back as usable troops in 40k.

I would love all sorts of things, attack squigs, artillery squigs, squig "vehicles" etc. I have always loved the feral ork/snakebite feel and would love to explore it more.

What are your thoughts?

I'm surprised they aren't there since they played a decent part in the space marine pc game.

We're gonna need another Timmy!

I love squigs!

I guess there's nothing to stop anyone modelling them on larger units like vehicles, artillery and dreads. Or in friendly games borrow other unit rules to represent them, e.g. Tyranid spore mines for bomb squigs.

Would be bang into a plastic squig kit. Options for attack squigs, bomb squigs, some sort of top bants new squig unit. Bring back snotlings while you’re at it.

a new unit or two would be amazing. You could make one of em out of plastic and have it be cross usable with WFB, I know i have been wishing(for YEARS) for a plastic squig box. Also something like the FW squig artillery thing would be amazing. I know you could just use it as a stand in for the lobba big gun, but the price makes it a bit out of reach for that use.

I agree in every way possible. squig artillery is such a wonderful and orky idea!

Now i also want to see a basilisk converted so orks are loading squigs into it.

realism is a lie

I really miss the sniffer squigs to push back infiltrators and I always had to use a medi squig to ignore poison attacks.

Yes! More squigs! They are the most cute and loved creature in 40k, yet unnused in the game.

Brutal, but kunning!

Squigs are great little guys. We definitely need more in game, since the only uses for them are for warbosses, runtherds and tank bustas. It would be hilarious to bring an army of squigs and squiggoths to a game!

Right?!? You could either have gretchin herders, like 1 per 8 squigs or something, and the squigs would have awesome cc stats. like 3 attacks, 4+ to hit, 3+ to wound or some such. If all the herders are killed, then the squigs go wild and move in random direction or just explode doing dmg per squig left as they rampage and run away. Or an ork Runtherd or something. Also new squiggoths. Any of this would be fun as hell!

I would also like to see more squigs.

A plastic Squiggoth would be great. I recently ordered the Forgeworld model but it's pretty expensive to have an army with a bunch of them and IMO the model doesn't look all that great. (I'm talking about the regular Squiggoth, not the Gargantuan Squiggoth which looks great).

Kind of off-topic, but I have a bit of headcannon that the boars often associated with Feral Orks are a type of squig. In my head they're what happens when a hair squig gets extra-large. Them being an Orkoid subspecies would explain why the Orks have access to them on so many planets. I also have it in my head that there is a venomous snake-like squig that lurks around The Drops, and while Snakebites will use all manner of venomous creatures in their rituals they pretty much always have access to these squigs. I plan on modeling some of these "wrigglesquigs" on the bases of some of my Snakebite Warbosses and counting them as attack squigs.

I'm going to strap explosives on a bunch of my extra wild boars and use them as "bomb pigs" for my Snakebite Tankbustas. I'm also trying to figure out if the Maw Krusha would make for a good Squiggoth conversion.

Without scatter dice how you plan to do random direction And imagine scream of tournament players. "Slow down too much". As if bazillion rerolls didn't do that

I'm surprised they haven't done more with squigs. Clearly that's the way to go to get people's money, because people like small, cute, stupid creatures like that. And more importantly merchandise based on them.

Like porgs!

I prefer combat sized, charasmaticq(ok cute works), and instinctual.

I mean, due to the lore, squigs are bred from the spores of orks. They should be totally incorporated into every aspect of the army. I am just keeping my fingers crossed for the snakebite/feral ork possibility.

I'd love to write up a game where a bunch of grots try and break into a Mekboy's workshop to steal weapons and stuff but they have to run the gauntlet of guard-squigs and sentries.
That'd be so much fun.
