I received a massive Dark Eldar army for Christmas. It wasn’t my original choice, but it is interesting me the more I look at the minis and their rules.
It’s not a typical bundle of minis I’d expect for Dark Eldar (its a mix of GW Dark Eldar and Warmahordes Cephalyx) and I’m having a little trouble knowing what to build out of the boxes.
I’ve got:
Two Archons.
Two boxes of Kabalite Warriors.
Twelve Reavers.
Ten Hellions.
Forty Wracks (which are Warmahordes Cephalyx Drudges - I don’t play Warmahordes anymore, but they fit really well as Wracks).
Two Raiders.
Two Grotesques (which are Cephalyx Monstrosities).
Three Haemonculi (which are Cephalyx Agitators).
One really big Haemonculi (which is Exulon Thexus from the Cephalyx range)
One Dark Elf Bloodwrack Medusa.
I know I want the Wracks as there are a lot of them and they look good on paper next to Haemonculi and I could use the Medusa as another Grotesque, but I’m not sure about the Archons and Warriors. Do I build them as Warrior units or use them as Trueborn?

Given what you've got, I think building the Kabalites as Trueborn would be the best choice, though you'll need to source extra Dark Lances and Blasters (Shapeways can be useful here) to make useful squads.

It might be worth waiting for the new dex to see what the new set up is. I'm guessing nothing too different, but it shouldn't be long. Designers at 40K open day confirmed the rate of release would be the same in 2018 so all the dexes will be out by early summer.
It's a shame for you that all the old haemunculus formations have gone now!

Are dark Eldar what Santa gives instead of coal now then?

I used the Medusa as a base for a counts as Slyyth conversion.
If you want a bodyguard for one of the Archons it's a good option.

I’m not too fussed about waiting for the dex, it’s going to be a long term project anyway. To be on the safe side, I might go with Warrior Squads as we might end up losing the Trueborn as they have no minis in the current range. It seems that GW is doing a lot of that atm. No, that’s Chaos Marines.
