I love this Emperor's Children Marine pic. It seems like so many ideas exist on where you could take the obsession angle beyond Sound Marines.
They already did another angle further with one character with Lucius.
What kind of ideas do you think would be great?
A full duelist style unit, that are in the gladiator games like Lucius?
Some kind of pain fetishist that gets a weaker version of disgustingly resilient?
Drug Cocktail mixing apothecary replacements?
Some kind of chaos equivalent to flagellants?
Anyone else have cool ideas on what could be out there?

I'd love to see a mutated chaos version of the Palatine Blades: https://www.forgeworld.co.uk/en-JP/Emperor-s-Children-Legion-Palatine-Blades-Squad Noise Marines are great as a close-support unit, with great shooting and really good CC but these guys could be like EC Chosen, pure close combat. I'd love to see them with options for duel-wielding power swords (or better yet give them unique wargear like DG/ TS, call them singing Blades or something) and give them some Possesed stylemutations like lashing tentacles that handicap their foes or pheremonic lures to force units into CC with them.
I'd also like to see their terminators represent these: https://www.forgeworld.co.uk/en-JP/Emperor-s-Children-Phoenix-Terminators Call upon the namesake of their original number and them be composed of EC who have died and been gifted with rebirth by Slaanesh. Warped Terminator armour (infused by Slaanesh energy so it maybe gets a 4++ instead of 5++ and give them the FnP standrd), built in Doom Siren (call it a Screaming Siren that constantly emits the dying screams of tortured innocents but not as strong as regular Doom Siren) and have those halberds be some kind of force weapon maybe? They can be sort of semi-psykers due to their rebirths.
They should absolutely allow regular chaos termies to wield sonic weaponry but all EC get are termies with sound weapons that'd be very disappointing. TS got unique termies, DG got chaos-infused versions of their 30k formations. EC should get the same treatment.
I also always wanted to see some massive vehicle.warmachine that could act as a locus for an EC army. A giant tank with some kind of psykic device to attract people towards it, like the Pied Piper. Use it as a hub around which cultists can gather (6" FnP bubble to cultists or something and +1 to Ld) and which can also lure enemy units towards it (can target the nearest enemy infantry unit and have it move 3" directly towards it at the beginning of it's movement phase).
Obviously sonic dreads being brought into the actual mainstream in the codex. Not much you need to do with them, just have them in the damned codex and not be relegated to FW rulings any more.
They also need some kind of unique cultist unit. TS got those Tzaangors as a unique cultist "type" in their troop slot and DG got the Poxwalkers. An EC one would be nice too. I doubt GW would do it but I'd love to see a unit of seducers/sycophants, call them Perfecti or something. They're job would be to act as tarpits, holding units up by being seduced/confused/flattered to the point of obsenity, holding them in place. They have crappy stats but reduce the number of attacks from each model in combat with them by 1 and give them a 4++ in combat and special rule that prevents units from leaving combat (same as DE Wyches). It'd be nice for EC to have a tarpit unit to lock units down whilst their own stuff flits around the table at speed.

I want to go further and go into "Seven Sins" Styled marines. Marines that embody Slaanesh's full amount of desires.
You have these horrific possessed that embody gluttony, carnivorous devouring monsters who seek their tastes through eating others on the battlefield.
A prideful, mutated variant of the Palatine blades that seek out the greatest of fighters on the battlefield.
Greedy marines who seek to steal from the battlefield, aiming for tanks to destroy/steal for themselves. Etc, etc.

It'd probably be in their rules that they couldn't run.
But great idea. The gluttony one could stray into Nurgle too much, looks wise, but I could see that countered with a group who are on combat (and recreational) drugs, or as mentioned before, an Apothecary substitute who doles out the performance enhancers. Random buffs depending on what he's cooked up this week.
Slaanesh cultists should really be a "Pleasure Cult" or even maybe serving the EC in a sub/dom role. Have them led by an aspiring champion and they can submit to his will or something. Give them a Commissar type rule called No Safeword.
I've always liked the idea of the Slaanesh guys being OTT with colours as well as sound, and while that's difficult to convey in plastic models you paint yourself, maybe new models could have a lot of different textures on them to show armour adorned with all manner of materials that the Marines might get a thrill out if touching?

Carried into battle on the backs of some slaves that are enhanced or some monstrous mutant maybe. Where they aren't the primary fighter but basically whip their charge/drug them with frenzon into battle to fight for them.

This is potentially true, maybe instead of a heavyset devourer you have the thin fanged monstrosity with multiple tongues that seeks to devour. If I had to put a picture to words it'd be like the Red Terror mixed with the mouth of a Mawlac with thinner whiplike tongues akin to a Haruspex as a sort of base. Heck maybe the look is inspired by Tyranids as they feel they are being outdone by the "Great Devourer"

I dunno... Whipping people seems like a lot of effort... Can't I just stay at home and nap or something? Automatically Appended Next Post: Orrrr
How about the sloth guy is in a deep slumber, carried around by cultists. They're so dedicated to sloth though that their dreams have ripples in the warp. They have psychic emanations that distort or pacify the battlefield

You'll get around to it eventually. *rimshot*
You could have the Sloth Marines on bikes since they're too lazy to move themselves. Have them basically be on beds with wheels.
Any other ideas? It seems like you could go full on Hellraiser with the children.

Lots of idea's for conversions here but no way GW is gonna release anything related to the seven sins. They ahve a hard enough time as it is dealing with Slaanesh and the whole sex and drugs thing. but seven sins is an awesome idea for an army theme.

I think something like the Death Guard.
So the options the unit currently have, but with with Falchions, Double Scimitars and Glaives as melee options. for anti horde, anti elite and middle-of-the-road melee options. Possibly, one of these option works more as a debuff for enemy melees (parry or such).
Possible 4th weapon type, a whip.
Drugs are fitting (like in 3rd) but that's probably some spell or stratagem.
Then 2 type of terminators, a sonic unit (2 heavy /5 models) and a Glaive unit kinda like the Deathshroud.

Generic characters disappearing? Elite units of your army losing options and customizations? No longer finding that motivation to convert?

Personally I'd prefer to keep Christian morality out of 40K. The Chaos gods are interesting in part because they're not yet another re-hash of the same tired "seven deadly sins" concept you see everywhere.
Besides both pride and wrath are virtues in the 40K universe, gluttony and greed are irrelevant, while sloth and despair are sins but only as variations of the actual sin which is "being mentally weak without having a stronger protector." You could argue that lust is a sin in 40K, but it isn't really - only when it's taken to extreme excess does it enter the realm of Slaanesh.

Four of Slaanesh's realm directly correlate to gluttony, sloth, pride and greed. with the excess of riches where the realm is practically made of gold and exotic gems for the taking, and a realm that is filled to the brim with fine food, wine, and other exotic delights.
While the realms of Pride shows the universal adoration and cheer for that person, more glory, the adoration and pride in one self.. And the realm of sloth is meant to let one rest after such an ardous task of moving through Slaanesh's realm, afterall you deserve such a rest. Listen to the music as the softest sands let you rest forevermore.
Yeah the whole christian morality tends to come up when Slaanesh basically is meant to be the "Corruptor" of the four Chaos Gods. She uses everything that seems good to the universe and takes it to a level horrifically through excess. But the Pleasure Cults tend to easily come to the Nobles just as easy as it comes to the commoners in this setting due to targetting many of the same things everyone wants.
Also as for Pride.. Yeah it's not as big a virtue in this setting, it's often argued against. Heck one of Gulliman's challenges was a gift from Fulgrim, basically stating he could be God-Emperor himself. Excess pride is something that seems to cause many to fall to Chaos in this setting, or get themselves killed as they believe they know whats best.
Despair is a sin? It used to be the old Sloth from what I remember. Lust, Wrath, Greed, Gluttony, Pride, Envy, Sloth.

A simple rule for sloth type marines is that they have to set up in reserves and can not come onto the board until turn 2 or later.
