Just like the title says:

Eldar Craftworld Autarch weapon choices?

I recently played a game and my opponent had an Autarch w/ a Reaper Launcher and some ability to single out characters even if they weren't the closest model.

He showed me the ability in the codex, but couldn't find where in his codex where he could put a Reaper Launcher on the Autarch. So, he broke out the index and showed me there.

I was under the impression that when the codex came out it took the place of the index.

Am I wrong?

Can he put a Reaper Launcher on the Autarch?

Can you cherry pick what rules you want?

What am I missing?

Thanks in advance.

Last page.

Thank you.

I don't guess I had paid that close attention to that page before.

That's pretty interesting. In order to have all of the options you've got to have both the codex and the index.

Thanks again.

I'm not entirely sure - if you take an index entry only wargear item can you ONLY take index entrieswargear - so are restricted from taking codex specific wargear? (Not sure if there are any specifically for the autarch)

Read the FAQ PDF. Does it impose that restriction?

Well yes that is my question.
It says " you can use the index version for it's wargear options" but it's not clear if this is excluding codex options.

It tells you in the Commisar example.

Is your wargear choice in the Codex? Use Codex options.
Is it not in the Codex? Use Index options.

And if it's both - stop being awkward with your wargear options .. Lol

My favorite HQ right now is an Autarch Skyrunner w/ lance, Reaper launcher and Banshee mask

You get to use the points and rules for the RL and BM (both of which are better than the Index) and it's the only model in the entire Eldar range that takes full advantage of the Saim-Hann attribute (because it is the only melee bike carrying a Heavy weapon)

Autarch on Jetbike with a sniper rifle (more Alaitoc) used to be fun for that type of thing too, melee if you need to but use the bike to move to good positions and shoot the rifle. I liked giving him the cloak that they now limit to infantry only for the cover save. Can't make him now though that way, even with the index.

I give him the WL trait that can target Characters. The look on opponent's faces when their smaller characters get Reaper launchered to the face is priceless.

Then I use him to charge (with reroll) a nearby unit that that character was buffing.
