thanks, sea is next after I finish support pillars as would have been near impossible to paint in situ once there done and glued into place will mke a start, thanks for looking and comments

started the paint on the pillars, wanted to use a rusty base coat and add heavy weathering from there, found Vallejo air red on black undercoat gave a good base with the airbrush, the rest hand painted and sponged, also used crackle to give the cracked paint, some came out great some not so, so a bit hit and miss but still a good look, still a couple layers to go but looking goood

Very nice texture on the pillars, and the filler job for the waves seems to work well. Are you going to use a resin water effect?

managed to get sea painted, basically used green, black and blue acrylic paints and mixed from dark for the dips in seas, to various shades for waves and sponged white to crests of waves and dabbed white around pillars for more agitated effect, gloss varnished and when dry will add more effects with liquidtex medium

That sea effect looks fantastic

thank you, it was a nightmare to undercoat, everytime I went back to it I found another unpainted crevice but pleased with it as didn't want it to be too blue and wanted a more hostile sea/enviroment

That gloss coat really brings it out.

the previous layers made it look like blue rocks

thanks and your right, they did look like rocks, hoping the medium will give some more movement too it, also going try and make some sort of alien seaweed on the pillars,

added the liquitex medium, pictures not great but basically added waves crashing against the pillers, some more height to wave crests and some movement to other parts, looking on youtube this will dry fully in about two days, so fingers crossed

whilst this drying I am going to start the landing pad with control tower, crane and radar station as I am entering it into the The -=]_=- Terrain Competition Thread -=]_=- LoER Terrain Contest #25 "For the War Effort"
found a poorly made skyshield landing pad on ebay as getting cut up anyway, removed hinges from sides and top piece, hinges from pad and used whats left for the sides and based it on foamboard, used some of the cut off hinges as hydraulic arms for landing pad doors,

Thats insanely cool... If I may suggest something though, maybe add some shacks, lean-tos or, if that doesnt work with your vision, maybe a shrine or something? Currently there doesnt really seem to be anything to allow people to inspect the site, to work there or anything... and actually, an access point could be useful as well. A pier, a bridge/pipeline leading to the mainland, that kind of stuff? Unless its only meant to be accessible by air, ofc.

hi, thanks and for comments, once the main structure done I will be adding details like you suggest also there is going to be a 2nd board along side it with a pipeline and dock also going to do some kind of imperial container/tanker ship

Yeah, I thought you might do something like that (well, the main structure part of your post, anyway. ). Just wanted to mention it in case you hadnt thought about it, since the time to think about this kind of thing is approaching pretty quickly.

Should be awesome when its done!

(hell, its already awesome... I think I need a better word for it... <.< )

This is all looking so damn good.
I do suggest however adding in a couple ramps between the main levels as this would add some more space for gaming utility wise.
Also I think adding some other things to the pump (pipes, a control unit) should make it stand out more

Love watching this blog
