Hey all. I have been fine tuning this this for competitive play and so far I have been doing pretty well with it but I have yet to play against a good Death Guard list and wanted to see if I could get feed back on how everyone would think my list would do. So typical blood angel strategy. Captain will get the DC stratagem. He will drop with the DC and charge first to ignore overwatch. Lamartes and DC will all drop together. One DC might be held back depending on what’s going on in the game and drop them 2nd turn. The VV and the Chaplain will drop or start on the board and they have always been my go to for tank/monster hunting. Scouts do scout stuff. The Libby Dread will use the bikes as a screen to close in while the bikes add some anti tank. The Devs are there for the stratagems to get some mortal wounds. Because Morty is also flying that could be some easy mortal wounds on him or anything else really if need be.

Some good elements brother. It really depends on how you like to play.

But do know that only a few of your units are really taking advantage of the awesome Blood Angels chapter trait (+1 to wound charging or when charged)

If you're committed to playing mono faction it maybe a good idea to exchange some shooty units for more melee oriented ones!

What are you talking about ? Everything in his army takes advantage of red thirst.

Well everything "has" the rule but there is a difference between having it and truly taking advantage of it.

For example Devastators almost will never see this rule and if they do it won't help them much at all. Scouts with bolters get 1 attack in HTH so they won't really be doing much with this rule either.

Death Company on the other hand take significant advantage of the rule.

Ovechkin8 that is a good point about the devs. Like I said I have been fine turning the list and had 2 in at one point and upped to 3. However, I do get what you are saying. What would you recommend over the devs or what has worked for you? The scouts however are modeled with bolters otherwise I would run them with CCW/BP. Once I get more they will be replaced.

I don’t have a Blood Angels army but my best friend does and we are both taking part in an upcoming competitive tournament so I’ve been helping him formulate an army.

What we have sadly realized is that it’s hard to make a competitive mono faction blood angels army under the current rules! :(

So he has a Battalion and a Vanguard of blood angels but also a battalion of Astra Militarum for bodies and long range support.

I’ll post his army if you want. I’ve been still trying to make a full competitive Blood angels army and I can post what I have of that as well

Ok, but you cant have a melee only BA army. You need some units who can deliver firepower down range. You wont make all your charges. Dev squads are a good choice.

Yeah you def need to have some ranged punch. In my sample I put a Fire Raptor and some Inceptors in along with a jump pack captain and lieutenant so both those guys give fire raptor and inceptors reroll hits and wounds of 1
