Dark Angels Neophyte Undergoing Surgeries





Wanted to get some opinions on my attempt at a take all comers list. It's a Spearhead detachment and a battalion with Azrael bringing it up to a total of 9 CP for lots of fun with stratagems.

The plan is to have Azrael and the Lieutenant support the hellblasters who will make any heavy armour their priority with their greater range, overcharging, and WftDA stratagem. The scouts and intercessors are there to grab objectives, with the added intent of sniping any annoying characters. The terminators will deepstrike to destroy backlines while also taking full advantage of Deathwing Assault stratagem to shoot twice, doing 64 bolter shots alone. May also use the Hunt the Fallen Stratagem to make them into a nice character kill team. The Whirlwind and rifleman Dread will sit back and take pot shots at whatever seems to be a threat as the AC stat line is fairly versatile. The Dark Talon will deal with any hordes and use the rift cannon on anything big and scary. All the while the Libby on bike will zoom around and provide support where needed, advancing for jink if it seems he might be in danger.

Librarian on bike doesnt have the jink ability as per index datasheet and mind wipe seems too unreliable.

Hellblasters could be better off with standard plasma, specially in cases when something big like a landraider is coming at you

Might as well give intercessors an auxilary grenade launcher also since its free

If you're running 10 terminators to maximise deathwing assault, I would take 8 guys with stormbolter/fist (or sword) and 2 guys with cyclone, fist/stormbolter. This way you get 40 bolter shots, or 80 within close range. Also firing 8 S8 AP-2 D d6 missiles at something is nothing to scoff at.

Just remember 2 things: 1) stormbolters have 0ap, 2) you still propably wont be able to charge after DW-assault (at least not if you're going for rapid-fire range). This means putting your terminators in cover can really help them.

Thanks for the input! I forgot the launchers were free, I've updated it to add them in. My mistake on the librarian, thought all bikes got the rule for DA. Seems a bit silly they don't, but c'est la vie, just happy to have the maneuverability. What powers would you recommend? Just curious as I have a hard time deciding on which to take. I like aversion, it seems quite good and mind Worm stands out as a good second option for the extra MW and the added utility of it.

I wanted to do that but I needed to cut on the cost, as cyclones are quite a bit more expensive, so I thought AC was a good close second choice. Also took the one SS/TH for the extra bit of survive-ability, although in hindsight I suppose that's not entirely necessary especially if they're being more regulated to a shooty role than CC.

its not much but they cost a point i believe - they are not free.

totally agree with using the standard plasma rifles on the primaris hellblasters as well. They are so much more of flexible a weapon and the extra points can be used elsewhere to bolster your units

Thanks for the input! You're right, they cost 1, which is still negligible & Fair enough. Thinking on it, I suppose the standard would be better due to flexibility, as you don't suffer the -1 if you need to reposition and if you get in double tap range, then the sheer weight of overcharged shots are still likely to wound something at T8 as the heavy incinerator.
