Do D-sythes automatically hit in overwatch like they do in the normal shooting phase?

Also, is equipping Wraithguards with D-sythes pointless when deep striking them on the board considering they have a shorter range than the 9" you are supposed to teleport them away from the enemy?

Yes.

Pointless is a strong word, even if you have to wait a turn to shoot. Some people try to use a 2nd web strike for psychic support to try and Quicken them, but that can fail or get denied. I usually prefer to set down a guardian blob and a set of cannon guard, scythes ride in the serpents.

It's a lot in one basket, but I've had good results with webway striking two ten man squads of wraithguard, one with D-scythes positioned at 9" and the second line formed with cannons. The cannons can shoot, charging the scythes isn't very attractive and 60 HP at T6 and 3+ is still something not easily removed quickly.

Quicken has quite some range at 18", so the psyker doesn't have to be DSed. If it works and isn't denied, gravy

Although if you're dealing with a good melee threat that can roll 3d6, reroll charges, or both, they can just charge from 9" away and negate your Overwatch.

Sure, but why would you Deep Strike in next to that unit anyway?

I don't think anyone's going to intentionally Deep Strike 9.2" from a squad of Khorne Berserkers or Genestealers on purpose.

Yes and a resounding Yes. D-scythes is definitely the wrong weapon option if you want to deepstrike them.

Using the Webway for D-scythe WG is only a worthwhile tactic is they are both Ynnari AND you have Quicken.

You drop them in, attempt Quicken.
-If it goes off, gravy, now you can shoot and Soulburst to shoot again
-If Quicken fails or is denied, try Word of the Phoenix to move them in range

While Ynnari isn't absolutely required, the more layers of redundancy you have to ensure they can move, the better. Top list at LVO made use of the Seer Council strategem in addition to the Biel-Tan relic to all but guarantee Quicken went off.
