This is getting seriously out of hand, TSS. I think you might have a problem.

This is the sixth thread now, so that's a really strong commitment to being upset your favorite unit didn't get spotlight.

Are tzneetch daemons allowed? Cultists? Or are we really hobbling ourselves to elite infantry as troops? Do scarab occult count as rubrics?

Yes, yes, yes, and Yes

This thread is for people that want to run RM and are willing to try and figure out how to do it.

Take two or three barebone 5 man squads for holding objectives, use either cultists and/or horrors to fill the rest of your troop slots for CP, depending on preference and structure.

Take a large scarab occult unit for a deepstrike+whatever particularly nasty offensive stratagems to reliably thin a screen and allow your DP/magnus to get to the juicy center. Could do this deepstriking a large unit of rubrics instead, depending on how you feel trading points, CP, and melee ability.

Am I allowed to talk about running Rubrics in the general TS-tactica thread?

sigh... Look if you want to come in here and mock me thats fine, but I would prefer you kept it to PMs to keep the thread clear of off topic stuff.

I'm just following your own rules:

4.) Dont be Snarky, unless its funny.

Edit: With that said, I genuinely don't see the point of this thread.
What are we supposed to discuss here that can't be discussed in the general TS-tactica thread?
Why have two tactica-threads for the same army?

I want to use lots of predators and a fire raptor.
Have rubrics in rhinos, both infinite cultists, and as many sorcerors as needed.
What's a good list?

Hi guys,

I already ordered 20 rubrics and 5 terminators, these models look amazing!

Ask anywhere you like mate, I'm sure you'll get some decent responses. Things are all a bit up in the air right now, as the new codex has been revealed, and everyone's figuring out what it means for our army.

Just take some tzannigors to flesh out the army.

... sorry, I had to.

^oh look its the reason we shouldn't be making confusing spam threads on a forum frequented by many ESL speakers and should instead consolidate the info in one easily accessible place.

"Got you, Yugi! Your Rubric Marines can't fall back because I have declared the tertiary kaptaris ka'tah stance two, after the secondary dacatarai ka'tah last turn!"

"So you think, Kaiba! I declared my Thousand Sons the cult of Duplicity, which means all my psykers have access to the Sorcerous Facade power! Furthermore I will spend 8 Cabal Points to invoke Cabbalistic Focus, causing the rubrics to appear behind your custodes! The Vengeance for the Wronged and Sorcerous Fullisade stratagems along with the Malefic Maelstrom infernal pact evoked earlier in the command phase allows me to double their firepower, letting me wound on 2s and 3s!"

"you think it is you who has gotten me, yugi, but it is I who have gotten you! I declare the ever-vigilant stratagem to attack your rubrics with my custodes' ranged weapons, which with the new codex are now DAMAGE 2!!"

"...which leads you straight into my trap, Kaiba, you see I now declare the stratagem Implacable Automata, reducing all damage from your attacks by 1 and triggering my All is Dust special rule!"

I can not speak for anyone else but I am ok with this thread. I am with Thousand-Son-Sorcerer in trying to figure out a way to do tsons without using tzaangors.

My initial attempt will be

2 x 10 rubrics
20 cultists
2 sorcerers (not sure if exalted or not)
2 rhinos
Forgefiend w/ autocannons
Predator w/ laz cannons

That's what I am starting with at this point. I am not sure where I will go from there. I am thinking deamon prince (no wings) for the obvious bonuses, but I am also thinking I need to take a normal chaos marine detachment to get access to chaos marine options. Maybe pred and forgefiend with a chaos lord for fire Support start point, the forgefiend will need the reroll from the Lord, or the deamonforge stratagems.

My current "more competitive game" list at 2.5k points is:

Tson battalion

Ahriman on Disc
DP with wings+Talons

10x rubrics, soulreaper
10x rubrics, soulreaper
30x Tzaangors

Rhino, 2x combi bolter
Rhino, 2x combi bolter

Helbrute 2x las/fist
10x SOTs with 2x hellfyre 2x soulreaper

Pred 2xlas+AC

Daemon Battalion

Changeling
Fateskimmer

2 units of 5x brims 5x blues
15x pinks

Exalted flamer
3x flamers

to drop to 2k I usually just drop the SOTs since theyre very close to 500. I have a variant of the list that drops the flamers and some Tzaangors for a jump sorceror to ferry in the SOTs/Tzaangors. Were I to ditch the tzaangors entirely I'd exchange them for 10x cultists and take 15 more pink horrors (I need more pinks but my local store has been out). brims and blues mixed because I'm not spending 35 more bucks to shave 20pts.

This usually works well for me with the auxiliaries making a big impact turn 1 and dying off pretty promptly, and the rubric units having the longevity to carry the rest of the game.

Was browsing fw and I found this amazing contemptor:
https://www.forgeworld.co.uk/en-AT/Thousand-Sons-Contemptor-Dreadnought

What weapon would you put on this guy? Is it worth to take it as heavy support or do rubric marines have better options?

Cheers,

Spado

Oh, a hellbrute, I didn't think about that option. Or the flamers, I could take a deamons hq with 3 squads of 3 flamers to use as harassment / hoard clearing. Of course I need to figure out the hq, that will be the hard part since it would need to be able to support other things than the flamers. And it would give tsons a serious boost in the speed department.

So we are talking

Small deamons detachment (500 pts max)
Small chaos marines detachment (500 pts max)
Large tsons detachment (remaining pts)

For a more traditional tsons army. Hmmm...
