Played a game today...Just wanted some rules clarification. I may have screwed up.

Bloodletters in a World Eaters army do not get any benefits, correct?

So no extra attack. No rerolls from a Dark Apostle.

They can never get the legion trait , as they are not world eaters (And will prevent world eaters in the same detachment from getting the legion trait)

All abilities depend on the keywords given. They are not heretic astartes or legion, so a lot of abilities like the dark apostle will not work. There are a few that keyword khorne or daemon which will work.

No, Bloodletters can never benefit from a legion trait. Either you take the Bloodletters in the same detachment, in which case the detachment can't take a trait; or you take them in their own detachment, at which point, still no legion trait. With the Chaos Daemons codex out, it's better off putting them in their own detachment with a cheap Herald as HQ to benefit from Daemonic Loci.

A note here though you can take reinforcement points for a pure WE detachment and then spend those to summon bloodletters in the game in which case you will still get to keep the WE trait.

as mentioned though if you can get the pts you are much better off with a pure daemons detachment with a herald.

Just incase the OP misses this crucial point here:

Not only do the bloodletters not benefit, but if you contain bloodletters in the detachment it is NOT a World Eaters detachment at all, because the Blood Letters are not World Eaters. This means that the rest of the detachment also misses out on the Legion Trait too. No extra attacks on a charge for your berzerkers etc.

Battlescribe let's you take them as troops in such a detachment for some reason, which is a reason people sometimes mess this up I think. I can only assume the app is setup this way to help you calculate what points you need to set aside for summoning, but it does mean you can make a completely illegal list in battlescribe and it won't tell you. Usual 'battlescribr is no substitute for the books' comment if this is what happened here.

You really NEED to stick them in a separate detachment, as BCB suggests.

It's not an "illegal" detachment since they share the CHAOS keyword, it's just not a World Eaters Chaos Space Marines detachment.

It is illegal. It lets you specify the legion World Eaters, and that restricts what units you can select. You can't select Abaddon then for instance, because he isn't World Eaters, the app won't let you. But it will let you take Bloodletters and will count them against Troops for the detachment. Which is illegal, because you've selected World Eaters for the detachment.

It does seen confusing. I might suggest improvements.

To clarify further, what I am saying is that the final result is illegal. A detachment that contains Bloodletters that is called out as a World Eaters detachment. What is illegal about it is that it is called out as World Eaters, not the combination of units themselves which could be taken as a Chaos detachment as you say.

The issue is that people who are taking Battlescribe as a rules resource, which of course they should never do, don't realise that it can't be a World Eaters detachment because Battlescribe does not flag an error, leading people to believe they can field a World Eaters detachment which has Bloodletters as Troops.

Battlescribe was what got me all confused.

Maybe I'm just too nostalgic for the Khorne Daemonkin codex.
