Subject: First showcase introduction, Marine commander and Dreadnought

Hi there, having just joined the forum, I felt I should make a post to show off a couple of mini's from my army, my Space marine commander, a minor conversion from the Emperor's Champion, and a Dreadnought. The Chapter is one of my own creation, the Sons of Poseidon.
Please take a look, Comments and Criticisms are welcome, they are entirely hand painted, I don't have an Airbrush, but any advice on how I can make them look better is always appreciated

The pics are a bit dark and blurry, so it's difficult for me to give you specific advise.
However, the color palette and the conversion really match your Poseidon theme. I could actually guess your chapter's name from the minis alone. Really nice job there!

Thanks! I'm sorry for the poor quality of the pictures, the light here isn't fantastic and I only have my phone to take pictures with.

I have tried to take some better pictures of the Dread and my commander, I hope this makes the details clearer if anyone wants to give me some feedback on how I could improve them! The writing on the dreadnought is not legible as I felt i was unable to do so, it is only intended to give the appearance of inscriptions! I can't paint writing that small.

How are you going to paint the bases?
I like the trident + color
My first Space Marine Predator I painted had script writing looked much worse. This is a good start. Pump out a squad or two and let's see how the army meshes together!

I do in fact have a fully fieldable army painted already, I just didn't want to overdo my first showoff thread! Though if you think I should I can take more pictures of the army as a whole...

OK. I have taken a picture now of more of my army! Hope it passes muster. Sorry if the picture quality is not fantastic, I only have my phone and had to use the flash for this one.

Hey man, this is a really nice idea and a very neat colour scheme! A few ideas:
Maybe make the bases more aquatic-themed? Add some water effects and small shells from a beach (if there is one nearby...)
Perhaps also look into making a simple light box for taking nice and neato photos!
All the best on your hobby journey!

Cool stuff Rickdraco! Especially as a Classicist, I really dig your theme! I agree with what people before have said, the scheme works nicely and your commander really suits the aesthetic. The first major improvement I noticed in my painting was when I started nailing the base armour colour for my marines. It's something that is easily overlooked, but provides the basis for the entirety of the rest of a paint job. Whether this means doing a few extra, thinner coats or spending some extra time highlighting, filling in whatever gap you think needs filling there can give you a rooted impetus to give 110% to the rest of the miniature. Regardless, I like what i'm seeing. As always the truest advice is that practice makes perfect - so keep on painting!

Great theme and army!
I might have called them the Aquamarines , but Sons of Poseidon has a nice ring too.

Thank you all so much for your feedback on my army, I am going to do some more work on it and make more showoff threads, but each thread will focus on a single unit!

Barpharanges made some Aquamarines a long time ago with a similar teal colour scheme (I tried googling for his name but there's not much to find):
