I have played my Emperor's Children as far back as 3rd edition. With the release of newer models for other gods and the 5th god making some news, I fear for my EC. So much lore, so much possibilities and yet we are falling ever so closer to extinction.

As a Slaanesh lover what is one to do? Do I continue to buy, convert, and hope? Or do I succumb and go with another Chaos god. I understand the peaks and valleys but I feel like this is more like coming closer to the edge of a cliff.

I have no interest in any other army except for Chaos. Can someone help me make some sense of this and possibly assist with this most difficult situation.

Emperor's Children as chaos marines is in a good spot in 8th. Following the trend of Codex: Death Guard and Codex: Thousand Sons, I am personally holding off converting for the implied Codex: Emperor's Children with the possibility of plastic noise marines.

It will still be a long wait. Maybe you'll see something at the end of the year with the rumored Slaanesh releases.

Considering how good their rules seem (to me, at least) this edition, I don't think they're going anywhere. Noise Marines are crazy good, Endless Cacophony is a killer strategem, and always going first in combat is super useful.

Who knows whether or not we'll see a Fulgrim release, but personally I think it's much more likely than not.

Noise Marines are probably the best overall CSM troop this edition alone. Kept the 2A unlike Plague, the sonic guns in all capacity got good. Doom siren got it's sweet spot..

Lucius is good, our traits are good, and you can make a wicked DP with the relics.

I seriously doubt there will be a standalone Emperor's Children codex. I think this edition what with Death Guard getting a huge release list and Thousand Sons getting there bit the rest will have to play via the standard Chaos Space Marine codex.
I'd be happy to be wrong though...
Also as hobojebus says above, there's a few issues with adult themes that make Slaanesh problematic for Games Workshops attempts at being kiddy friendly

That hasn't stopped them for the last 20 years; in fact, a change of focus would be nice, if only to drag the peanut gallery away from the "Slaanesh is all about boobs, hur hur" idea.

Fulgrim is hinted at at the end of Gathering Storm book 3, so I can see him coming back; I wouldn't expect a Codex Emperor's Children or Codex World Eaters for a while, but I wouldn't say "never", either.

While I would not expect a codex for them, I do think they are going to get a mini dex of sorts like the 1ksons did with wrath of magnus. Once all the codexs have been released I think we will start to see story campaign books in the vein of what has come before. I mean All of the living primarchs will eventually see release and I think Lion-o Johnsonville is next up after that. But this all baseless wish listing on my end.

Im afraid theres a pretty good chance of Slaanesh getting killed off in-lore. Not squatted, but damn close.

There is no reason to squat Slaanesh unless we are going to see Berserkers also disappear because of too much exposed flesh. Hell, Drukhari would have to disappear as well as they share many similar thematic points and last time I checked the Drukhari are getting a codex. Plus having the Ynnari without Slaanesh would be a huge fluff change and make the faction pretty much pointless, and with the Daughter's of Khaine release and their connection to Slaanesh I just don't see Slaanesh going anytime soon.

Will the lore be altered? Yes, but the lore has been altered for pretty much everything else over the decades. The things I see as being squatted is mostly all the snuff fiction like the stuff Matt Ward wrote and truth be told nobody needs Matt Ward snuff fic.

Slaanesh is getting release in AOS likely this fall. Just question of when it comes to 40k. Unlikely nobody at the design studio feels totally uninspired with slaanesh so danger of squatting is low(squats were dropped not because of sales but nobody at studio could come up with something cool that would turn joke race into interesting one)

You bet we will be getting some love.

Gathering Storm did hint at sightings of a large serpentine creature causing havoc - sounds like Fulgrim to me.

I think GW are probably just re-appraising how to deal with Slaanesh. Basically they need to move away from torture porn boobmarines to make them more appealing - and acceptable - to a wider age range. Which is fine.

As much as I do like Noisemarines I am quite looking forward to what they do with the new Berzerkers, if Kharn is anything to go by.

There was a rumour some time ago that Fulgrim will have his model teased at the end of the year.

Correct me if I am wrong but doesn't dark eldar take slaves? Don't they have slave girls on their raiders? I think it is
hypocritical of them to say EC is too extreme.

You have a blood god who only cares about bloodshed, he doesn't whos blood it is as long as it flows. Is this kid appropriate?

Let's face it, we can find a lot of inappropriate things with every army. The bottom line, this is a game that was built on lore, good vs evil, survival or extinction, and extremes on both ends. Why point a finger to one component or one army and say "this is too extreme and must go"

I can understand the desire to attract a young audience but GW can adapt and grow instead of conform.

Sorry guys but since 3rd edition, I only know my EC, just really touchy subject.
