Hey all, so I’ve been building a Ork army for a long time and really love it. Orks will always be my main army. I got started in the hobby a few years ago and was also collecting a pretty descent space marine army. With the release of the new 8th edition and so much new space marine models I feel like I don’t even know if I wanna keep going with this army. I have several squads of tax marines some dreadnoughts, a Stormtalon, some devastators, and some other stuff but I feel like space marines changed so much with the new edition I’m not sure I wanna relearn the whole army. So I’m thinking about trading/selling them and maybe starting a new army. What army are you guys enjoying for the 8th edition? Would you keep the marines and add some new kits? I haven’t yet committed to a specific faction like blood angels etc....maybe I should just pick a faction and stay with it? I feel overwhelmed and confused lol

Why Aye Ya Canny Dakkanaughts!

Keep the Space Marines, convert them up into chaos and start one of the most varied armies in 40k currently; like melee, go Khorne Berzerker hordes (the only melee unit that beats out Ork Boyz point for point); like shooty stuff, grab some noise marines and oblits and watch the dakka melt armies; like psychic BS, the TS have got you covered; wanna be near unkillable, DG kept FnP in the transition over; want a monster mash, Chaos Daemons got you covered; want mechanized, grab a bunch of hellforged vehicles and stomp around the battlefield claiming skulls.

I still maintain that Chaos is the most varied faction in the whole game due to it's multitude of sub-factions.

I'd honestly recommend to expand your orks army at this point of 8th edition. SM are becoming weaker and weaker everytime a new codex drops. And primaris stuff is repulsive IMHO

Orks offer tons of possiblities in customization, if you're into that part of the hobby, I'd suggest collecting them only for the chance of having a unique army.

Gamewise they're popular and nicely competitive as an horde with warbosses, weirdboyz, painboyz, big meks with kff, boyz, stormboyz, kommandos, kannonz and KMKs.

I prefer using transports or mixing footsloggin mobs with transports and walkers.

Thanks for the advice guys, I’m good with my Orks right now I like to keep a second army on hand as a few of my friends can’t afford to purchase armies of their own but will play with my extra from time to time. I don’t really play competitively as of now so I think I’ll just figure on a new army and sell off my marines. I’m leaning heavily towards Necrons as I can paint a whole army fairly quickly and I love the models.
