Hi all! First post - I apologise in advance for my noobishness

I have recently bought dark imperium and have a query regarding Space Wolves Intercessors. There is a lot of backfaff to this and I feel like I need to evidence my thought process so bare with me

***Edit - oh OK it doesn't let me post links int he first post... I'll try again in the second....***

Automatically Appended Next Post:
First, dark imperium makes it expressly clear that space wolves can use primaris (inc. the ones that come in the box).

Second, this goober from games workshop (j/k he's cool) makes it very clear that space wolves can have intercessors via his paint demo.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hakz6mMDTOM

Here's the data sheet from dark imperium.

OK, fine.

So I buy these to supplement my space wolves intercessors from dark imperium upon the evidently bold assumption that I can use them, as is implied by dark imperium.

Here's the datasheet from the separate box of intercessors - it's expanded from the above, more options etc.

Now, turning to index imperium one, it still says space wolves can use primaris, great!

Now, here's the datasheet from the index....

Ugh - why is this so reduced from the one that came in the box?! I completely get that space wolves are different and will have their own codex in due course but does this mean I'm fixed to using the crappy index rules rather than the one that came with the box? I feel like I can't even build my new intercessors because their wargear might become non-compliant with the space wolves codex once released =[

If I can't use these intercessors, then why do they imply you can use the ones in dark imperium by just painting them differently... fuuuuu!

I'd be grateful for your thoughts,

Your help is much appreciated. Thank you for your patience

You're missing one vital piece of the puzzle, this PDF from GW's site:
https://www.games-workshop.com/resources/PDF/Downloads/K3ns3JDOGE2asjf/Primaris-week-4/IORF435R4_ENG_Primaris_Marines_Release_04_July_29th.pdf

So yes, you can use the datasheet from the box, though for some bizarre reason Space Wolves cannot give their sergeants power swords, but must use chain swords instead (Blood Angels had similar limitation, but it was removed in their FAQ.)

(Oh, and the Index datasheet is limited, because it was published before the multipart Intercessor kit was released, and only covers the options in the Dark Imperium box.)

Oh man, thanks so much for this! lol that got me so frustrated... what super powers do you need to navigate all the rules... good grief :p

Having a look at my kit, it doesn't actually contain any chainswords... hmm! Do I have to supplement it with one of these and lob off on my primaris hands?

It is bit of a mess because of the new edition, especially for the armies which do not have a codex yet.

That could work. Though I have to warn you that that particular chainsword is pretty gigantic, it is probably meant to represent a Frost Blade or some artefact.

You can find Space Wolf chainswords from Ebay pretty easily though:

Ultramarines, Dark Angels and Blood Angels got Primaris upgrade kits with their codices, and I'm sure Wolves will too, but until that happens you need to do some kitbashing if you want to have those chainswords.

As an aside, I would recommend magnatising the weapons on any model (plenty of guide on youtube etc on how to) as it will allow you to replace the weapons much easier should the codex rules be significantly different to your current rules situation. It's a pain at times but its much nicer to be able to swap weapons on expensive models than hacking them appart every time GW tweek the codex/rules

Hi mate - just wanted to say thanks for this advice. I have indeed had a stab at magnetising, I think it turned out pretty well! Many thanks, really appreciated
