Hi - I apologise in advance for this pathetically noobish question. I really appreciate any input

I'm about to start painting a space wolves venerable dreadnaught. I have a few sprays, including chaos black (for undercoating), ledbelcher and the fang. I'm planning to paint in parts the assemble with superglue, just an experiment... hence the various sprays - I'll assemble the bits later

Do I need to spray the parts in chaos black BEFORE I spray with ledbelcher / the fang? I can't seem to find a consensus on this.

Warhammer TV man paints a dreadnaught in this vid and just jumps straight to the coloured spray, implying that the choas black is only required when using a brush.

So, warhammer gods, what's the best thing to do? Spray everything in chaos black first? Or is this unnecessary? Again, many thanks for your help, it's really appreciated

GW seems to be touting its sprays as primers and basecoats in one. It's all down to formulation, I guess. Note that their Chaos Black and other paints use the exact same description, none of them are 'primers' anymore.

Honestly not sure

iv never had much issue with say Corax white. i can paint over it and everything without issue so long as i seal it after.

If you are worried you could just get normal black primer from the box store for like 3 bucks. hit up the parts. touch up areas you miss with black paint by hand then spray over with lead belcher or fang or whatever. that way you dont need to worry about areas you miss as it will be black and look like shade.

Oh my god I'm becoming martel.
Send help!

I'd bet good money that all of GW's sprays are formulated the same way, so spraying Chaos Black before The Fang won't accomplish anything.

Prior to moving to an airbrush for base coating, after the first unit that I sprayed black, then fang grey, I just nailed all my wolfy wolves with the fang.

Hasn't seemed to have made a difference, and kept a full coat off the details.

Every spray on gws site tells you to use a undercoat first. That means a real primer.

These are my opinions. This is how I feel. Others may feel differently. This needs to be stated for some reason.

I use the fang direct onto my models, and it gives a great coat to paint over.

I think they are all undercoat and basecoat combined to be honest, they dont seem to make any distinction any more.

And several of their video tutorials say that just the colored spray is fine.
