Looking at starting a Necron army. Not sure what’s good and what should be avoided. The idea is an army that keeps resurrecting. I’m looking at three squads of 20 warriors with two overlords with orbs, two tri arch stalkers, 3 units of destroyers and a pylon. But I feel like the pylon takes away from the idea of the army. So any advice helps.

unless you are bying preowned for a nice coin, DONT start necrons now as there is a high chanse we get the codex next month.

As FrozenDwarf said the codex is here soon, but I think you can start collecting now.

What you should focus on are:
- Characters (Overlord, Cryptek, Lord)
- Immortals (Warriors aren't optimal right now, but may change with the codex)
- Wraiths
- Scarabs
- Tomb blades
- Triarch Stalker

Just don't go overboard and buy 4 Stalkers and 40 Immortals.

Owning 1 or 2 overlords and 1 or 2 crypteks is probably the only thing you can reliably purchase right now. Of course the new cryptek kit is coming so not worth getting those yet either.
Necron dex is supposed to be the end of this month. I would just wait for the dex.

of course if there are models you wanna buy simply because "I think they look cool" fill your boots.

Index is crap don't buy anything before codex drops and you know it's not gimped.

Anything else is a potential waste of money.

I would certainly wait. The index isn't really worth starting with at the moment, but since a codex is coming in the next couple months the army may change. You'll want to wait to see if you like the codex army.

not all battles are meta game battles.
the only thing that however is and has allways been a waste in 8th is warriors as the immortals does everything better.

hopefully that gets changed.


however OP, IF you cant wait, buy the get started box. should warriors remain crap in the codex then it would only be a loss of 10 models. the stalker and the overlord is worth the price alone.
