Hey all,

I've got my Iyanden Built up and was thinking what could I add next to make it even more competitive/nasty. I'm dropping my Wraithknight (which I play with for fun) and Dire Avengers and a Wave serpent for a Detachment of Harlequins and some rangers.

The army is built to be pure Alpha Strike with some defence against other Alpha Strike lists if I don't get first turn.

So here goes:

Battalion Detachment (Iyanden):

HQ:

Farseer Skyrunner w/Witch Blade, Shuriken Pistol - Psychic Powers 1. Guide 2. Doom. - Relic Psytronome of Iyanden - Warlord Trait Enduring Resolve

Warlock Conclave Skyrunner (2x Warlocks) w/Witch Blades, Shuriken Pistols - Psychic Powers: 1. Protect/Jinx 2. Quicken/Restrain.

Troops:

3x 5 Man Ranger Squads

Fast Attack:

Shining Spears:
1x Exarch w/ Star Lance, Twin Shuriken Catipult
3x Shining Spears w/Laser Lance, Twin Shuriken Catipults

Vanguard Detachment (Iyanden):

HQ:

Spirit Seer w/Witch Staff, Shuriken Pistol - Psychic Power: Empower/Enervate

Elites:

8x Wraithblades w/Ghostswords

7x Wraithguards w/Wraithcannons

5x Wraithguards w/D-Scythe

Dedicated Transport:

Wave Serpent w/Twin Shuriken Cannons, Twin Shuriken Catipults

Harlequins

Outrider Detachment:

HQ:

Shadowseer w/Mistave, Hallucinogen Grenade Launcher, Shuriken Pistol - Psychic Power: Twilight Pathways

Fast Attack:

2x Skyweavers w/Shuriken Cannon, Zepyhr Glaive

2x Skyweavers w/Shuriken Cannon, Zepyhr Glaive

2x Skyweavers w/Shuriken Cannon, Zepyhr Glaive

Implementation:

I get first turn: So the Wraithblades and Wraithguard w/Cannons webway strike for 3cp, I believe I can use the Harlequins Stratagem also to do the same with my Skyweavers, but think makes more sense to cast quicken and twilight pathways on them and up them in charge range turn 1. The harlequins are here essentially to chew up the screens or potentially tie up vehicles. The Shining Spears/Wave Serpent work as an envoy for the Warlocks + Farseer up the board to support. The rangers are sat on objectives in cover sniping away. The Shadowseer and Spirit Seer are inside the Wave Serpent with the D-Scythes ready to get out and support. (I'm right in thinking they can share transports right?)

I get second turn: Castle up with a Ranger Screen and spacing out to prevent deepstrikes into my line. Hang tight in cover if possible but keeping my Wraithguard in reserves to possibly take advantage of holes left open by advancing force for my retaliation (if they're not a static gunline).

How's this sound?

It will give you one more drop, but running your warlocks as individual models rather than a conclave will help to protect them from being immediately shot off the table, since they are not characters in a conclave. Their powers are pretty important for iyanden lists, so it may be worth the extra drop

Ah duly noted!

Am I right in thinking I can cast all the Eldar powers on the Harlequins btw?

Thought that would be the case! just double checked my codex and it's not Aeldari annoyingly for psychic powers. Not sure how much I'd be casting on them from my Eldar Psykers anyways.

Not sure if it works point for point but like the other guy said drop the warlock enclave for the characters but just take one instead. Take an extra shining spear and then send them all out for your alpha strike with the quicken.

Also how attached are you to being Craftworld Eldar? Iyanden special rules only really work for monsters and vehicles and none of your Wraithguard can use battle focus so you’re better off just going Ynnari. You will however need to take one of the Ynnari special characters to run a Ynnari detachment so I would say Yvraine as she is by far the best. Your shining spears can then get quickened and charge a unit first turn, prob kill that unit and then basically run away on an advancing soul burst movement.

Your harlequins should definitely stay as harlequins though (not Ynnari) then they can advance and charge which means for your bikes they can move about 20” and then still charge. They could probably help soften up a unit for your shining spears to finish

The armies painted up Iyanden and acknowledge Ynnari would probably work better, but I also think that the Iyanden craftworld attribute is very useful to not losing hellishly expensive models to morale as that's the other bonus you get. Also the relic is incredible for them, if I can get the Farseer up to activate it on the wraithblades that pretty much gurantees death on anything i.e. baneblades, knights etc with the assistance of guide and doom

Any thoughts on if I dropped the shining spears for a Solitaire? He seems like he could be a better finisher than them especially if using Blitz. Never used him though so unsure

I would drop a wraithblade for a shining spear. The shining spears are a fantastic unit and will definitely out perform the solitaire in most environments. You can't blitz and cast twilight pathways on a solitaire unfortunately.

The webway strike + shining spears + skyweavers should be a good first turn hit if you surround the right models in close combat.

Craftworlds Eldar: 8500
Dark Eldar: 1000
Harlequins: 1000
Raven Guard: 1500
Tyranids: 1500

Don't think a Solitiare could get a turn 1 charge of without needing Twilight Pathway with Blitz alone? But advice taken. Maybe I'll give the Solitaire a go for friendlier matches.

I think the list has legs to be tournament worthy if I can get my tactics right

Question, can the Shadowseer jump in the Wave Serpent in the Deployment phase as they share the faction keyword?

No. As described in the WS transport rules, it can only transport Phoenix lords and craftworld infantry. Shadowseers are neither.
Apart from Yvraine/The Visarch, Eldars can't embark upon Eldar transports from another subfaction.

I don't think deepstriking Skyweavers is worth it. A 9" charge is pretty difficult to make, and they really lack offensive power anyway. If their role is to be thrown at units just to tie them up for a turn, go with star bolas, that will save you quite a few points.
