I got another oddball one done - the Ork Trukk with an Enclosed Cab by Forgeworld. I don't see a single other one in the gallery - I guess not too many people foolish enough to pay $65 for a $30 transport that has literally no other benefits.

Assembly was straightforward: it comes with a Trukk kit, so you wind up with lots of bitz. I thought about replacing the Big Shoota with a Rokkit Launcha, but those ammo cans on the bulkhead wall are molded as a single part. So, stuck with the Big Shoota.

Spoiler:

I used mithril silver to do the chipped paint edge highlights, and it came out much brighter than expected after dullcote. This is 150% karma for telling Lorek I've never had dullcote do that. I may touch it up, but I may not; it looks worse in photos than it does on the tabletop.

One small change I made was to the way the bed works: the little nubs that attach the bed walls to the bed floor kinda sorta will stay in place by themselves. I decided to drill out the hinges and pin them so the bed can fold open and close. If you do this I suggest adding a tiny bit of superglue inside the hinge, spraying it with kicker, and then gently opening and closing the hinge while the glue activates; you get a very stiff hinge that way and it won't flop around.

Spoiler:

I might make a few more heavy weapons to do scenes like this:

Spoiler:

When I first started playing Orks, I never had any transports because the Trukk model seemed like kind of a pain in the ass to paint (much more so than a Rhino, anyway). Over time I would up severely overcompensating:

Spoiler:

So now I have 3 trukks, 2 looted wagons, 2 big trakks (and 2 more unbuilt), and a battlewagon. Unpictured I have a custom battle fortress, a stompa, and a kill bursta, with a kill krusha not yet built... so now I think I have more rides than I do Orks needing a lift.

Fantastic looking force. I like the enclosed cab, looks somehow more realistic. The gun-truck version is really great. The ammo boxes could be for the passengers, they are not easily accessible for the gunner.

Outer Space, Apparently

Looks brilliant! I'm painting one myself right now; very good to know that the hinges can be tinkered with to let them reliably lift up and down, as right now my one is definitely loose in that regard.

Also, your picture has enlightened me on where the Gunner Seat part belongs - that's been perplexing me since I got this kit

Great work!

I would do the gunner as a standalone part - the fold-down seat, the turret ring, the turret mount, the gunner, and the gun - before installing it into the Trukk.

The fold-down seat the gunner stands on is quite fiddly - i'd recommend putting some pins in the hinges to keep it from breaking. If it somehow breaks once that assembly is installed you're going to have a hell of a time fishing it out and repairing it.

Also if you look carefully you'll see I kind of modified the gun mount. I think I may have forgotten or lost the swivel part the gun goes on so I just made one out of plasticard. Look carefully because I bet there is one on the sprue somewhere and you won't need to.

Also, I had to slice down the gunner's neck to get the head to fit between the body and the gun.

Very true, it also wouldn't have been very hard to have put a few rockets alongside the boxes to cover both bases. Ah well.

Those, my man, are the best painted Arf Trakk's on all of Dakka Dakka.

You can buy them from CNC workshop. They have tons of really nice stuff.

The Killkannons are from Forgeworld. They're in a custom mount I made of plasticard and styrene tubing.

Halandri

As a resident of Nottingham it is a daily struggle not to go out and buy this beauty (or its sister the track truck)!

I do have a couple of other trucks due for some paint, so I do appreciate the tips and variety of photographs you have contributed.

Thank you, and good job!

(I love the group shot, by the way).
