I would like to buy one, but I keep hearing about nerfs being inevitable. Should I keep my money?

It's absurdly good. I *think* nerfs are inevitable because of just how good it is, but that's only a guess on what GW might or might not do in the future. Also, they could easily tone down the Y'vahra and have it still be worth taking.

I'd say yes. It's a good statline with an even better model. Even if it does get nerfed it's probably still worth using.

Depends on why you want to buy one. Do you want to buy one because you love the model and to build and paint one? Then there is no reason not to get one. Do you want to get one simply because its one of the most powerful units Tau have, then perhaps its not a wise investment due to what will likely be future nerfs.

Yes? I have 2,

i won't be shocked if they see an adjustment. I suspect the nerf it will see is the plasma flamer dropped to damage 2. Right now it is a litttle gross. Or a point increase, my guess 15 - 20%. The other change i can see is a heavy being swapped for assault.

The one I would be disappointed with is a profile nerf and point increase.

The 30"walking auto hitting threat is great fun, but 3d6 pow 6 ap2 3d is a salt mine waiting to open. At 24" it was scary but reasonable. The other issue is nova reactor - escape vector. The current 9inch placement just adds to the salt pile.

They are very much a glass cannon, a smart opponent won't charge it, or anything around it and focus fire it down. T7 and 14wounds don't last nearly long enough even with the 5++. It does not have savior protocols so, what you see is what you get, which might save it from a massive nerf.

My concern is that GW might render it virtually unusable after nerfs. It is a nice model and I could magnetize arms to swap it into a riptide if needed post-nerf. Riptides arent bad now, so there is that.

Yeah that's always a risk of buying a model because it's a good competitive model in the current meta.

FW units that are powerful tend to get nerfed and they usually nerf them excessively.

Buy it if you like it. Buying FW units because they happen to be powerful at the moment is a fools errand.

Uh. What? It's a battlesuit so it's a valid target for saviour protocols. I'm running 3 and 55 drones for that very reason.

That said the only thing that really makes it crazy is the Bork'an Sept trait. It's good, but without drone support it's not nearly worth it's 400+ point price tag. Much like Morty or Magnus just becomes 400 points of "shoot me first", so with the Nerf to saviour protocols combined with the point increase for drones it lost a lot of utility.

After CA my personal policy is to never, ever buy FW for the rules.

Would you buy it if the rules were total garbage? If the answer is yes, then get it. If the answer is a definite no, then I'd avoid it.

Or just buying model as a whole. With GW's random changes you can never be sure what happens next. Broken units get buffed, weak units gets nerfed into obvlivion. Standard day in GW office.

Though the fact it's resin makes it more likely to go into stage of uselessness. They don't want gamers to buy resin when there's plastic models available.

This model is flying rodent gak insane good. I can't speak to GW's intent or motivation with the same authority as these other posters, but i can tell you, that it is absolutely overpowered.

It's the same size as a riptide, so you could counts-as one of your riptides, and playtest with it.

Well with the current sept rules it went from being "medium risk high reward" to "0 risk - you win". The range buff it gets on it's weapons from borkan is insanely good for it. Not to mention the riptide strategem which would allow it to fire overcharged and use it's super move in the same turn. GG.

I'd say it's going to be changed as a result of that. Hopefully they don't just nerf the sept trait instead of the obviously OP Yvarah.

OP, March FAQ will be out soon, you can wait for that to see if it will see any nerfs (not likely IMO). After that, you're safe for at least half year or so...

This is why I always advocate to buy the models you like, and not chasing the rules dragon.

It might be good today, then nerfed tomorrow - or vice versa.

GW doesn't like people using FW models. Expect it to get very heavily nerfed.
