I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions regarding air brushes? I'm used to using an Aztek siphon feed, but that one went missing in my last move.
I know some people say gravity fed is better, but how come?

Gravity feed is the only type you should be looking at for model work. You don't have near as much waste as you do with a siphon feed and I find them easier to clean. A lot of people swear by the Masters G22 or G23 for a starter airbrush as the whole setup can be found on Amazon for around $100.
If you want to go higher quality, Iwata or Badger will serve you well.

Do you have any suggestions in regards to a particular model?

Badger Patriot 105 is my 'workhorse' airbrush for modeling, and (obviously) I'd recommend one as a 'step up' from a masters airbrush and an excellent getting started brush.

I just got a Patriot Xtreme, but it is literally just the brush itself. Knowing nothing about airbrushes, I need to find a hose and an compressor now, then work on a paint station.
Any advice? Not looking to go nuts, because I will using it for mostly just priming, but maybe some occasional base-coating (especially vehicles). I'm just really unsure if I should go with a cheap-o compressor, or waste less money and go for something midline that might last longer.

Because this thread pops up every now and then I like to post my "everything you need to start airbrushing" kit
http://a.co/6LEOASF
Has everything you are gonna need save for paper towels.
The badger 105 is a great work horse brush and a good starter brush, once you get the hang over rit jump up to the sotar 20/20 which is a good intermediate brush and then from there you will need to pick on your own, hope this helps.

Cheap airbrushes available from Harbor Fright are $35.00 USD. They last about 6 months.

Airbrush threads pop up once a month. its no big deal though.
personally love my badger renegade krome. amazon has them occasionally for like 70 or so.
honestly though having a siphon airbrush isnt that big of a deal especially for basic base coats and terrain.
it just takes a lot more extra steps to change out or mix colors together.
