Hey Dakka,

I`m tinkering with the idea of getting in with Necrons with some cash I have come into this month. I love the fluff and the models and with a new codex coming out it seems like the right time. I took a look on the GW website and came across the Necron Dynasty Battalion Detachment which is on pre-order. I`m more interested in modelling and painting then playing so if some of the units are sub part tactically I`m not too worried about that.

The box set comes as follows:

3 Canoptek Wraiths
6 Tomb Blades
1 Night Scythe
5 Triarch Praetorians
2 (new) starter sets of:
2 Necron Overlords
2 Annihilation Barge with Lord On Foot
6 Scarab Swarms
10 Immortals
24 Necron Warriors

They are selling the whole thing for $411 (I`m assuming USD as I live in South Korea and so have to order "Delivering-Rest of World"

The problem I am seeing is that the detachment seems really over priced. Using the same delivery area I come up with the following:

3 Canoptek Wraiths 47
6 Tomb Blades 82.50
1 Night Scythe 45.50
5 Triarch Praetorians 33
2 (new) starter sets of: 170
2 Necron Overlords
2 Annihilation Barge with Lord On Foot
6 Scarab Swarms
10 Immortals
24 Necron Warriors

This all comes out to $378, where does the remaining $33 go? I`m pretty bad at math but I checked my numbers a few times to make sure. I know that GW will usually make a bundle like this either the same price or a little cheaper but to have $33 more than if I were to buy everything seems strange. If anyone can enlighten me on what this difference can be please let me know.

The battalion I`m looking at.

Going off of the picture, there's a Canoptek Spyder in the set they haven't mentioned.

And a Canoptek Spyder is exactly $33. If included in the picture but not in the list then that would make perfect sense.

The codex is terrible they haven't fixed the major issues with the index that made necrons the worst index army so they are likely to be the worst codex.

I say this as someone who's played necrons from their introduction in white dwarf (still have the original metals) they are nothing to be excited over in 8th.

And with CA a long way off they'll stay that way for many months.

Thanks for your input, but as I stated above I don`t play very often and am more interested in modeling and painting. In the entire country of South Korea there is only one store that sells GW products and probably less than 100 people who play GW games. Games can be hard to come across.

I would highly suggest you contact GW Customer Service on the phone or via their Facebook and inquire there.

They literally fixed all the issues. What are you going on about?
