Ultimately for a group of Renegade Marauders, I'd like to convert some Kreig units into snipers. Should I just glue scopes on to their lasrifles, or are there better / more clever ways to show a sniper different from the stock advancing or firing models?

You could do 3rd party bits.

im sure there are a few that are holding snipers.

alternativly take the time to do a thing like this

What a great idea, I am looking to make 2 long-las's for my steel legion kill team

That and 2 flamers, I have the Cadian flamers and backpacks for this.

You might want to consider two models for the same thing, so one holding a longer variant Lasgun, and the second one with a cloth covering and sniper rifle poking out.

Just swap out models when not moving them.

Weapon wise Marine scout Sniper rifles are a good choice.

If your ok converting can always go with https://www.forgeworld.co.uk/en-JP/Elysian-Sniper-Squad and swap heads, add razor wire and cloth (green stuff) to cover part of model, and make the base sandbagged and muddy.

I've not checked but I'm just going to make a guess and say Marine weapons are going to be waaaay too big for DKOK models. FW use a smaller more slender scale for DKOK than GW use for Cadians/Marines/etc.
