So all elysian models can essentially deepstrike including the flyers. Issue is they have a minimum move so how does that work? They've ended where they started so technically they're destroyed. If you say the reserve is where they started how do you measure distance from reserve? And you can't go into hover jet mode because that has to happen 'before this model moves.' Deepstrike happens 'at the end of your movement phase' so you you can't hover and deepstrike on the same turn. Anyone found a solution to this?
Thanks

Solution: you can't deep strike supersonic flyers.

You can deep strike them.
When a unit deep-strikes/arrives from reserve it is counted as having moved its maximum distance.

What rule states that?

I don't think anything stops you declaring hover mode whilst in reserve.

That depends on how you interpret "Before this model moves in the movement phase...", does that mean it can only be activated in the movement phase? And if it can be activated outside the movement phase, could you activate hover mode during your enemies turn for instance?

It's implicit from the wording later that you can only declare it during the movement phase.. other than that it's just a timing issue, so anytime before the end of the phase seems fine, if you arrive from reserves then.

But you can only arrive from reserves at the end of the movement phase.

Yes, and you can declare hover mode any time before that.

The end of the movement phase is not the same as saying that the movement phase has ended. Even if it was the case then the flyer wouldn't crash since it didn't have a movement phase to move in so the minimum movement wouldn't matter.
page 177 BRB- "Units that arrive as reinforcements count as having moved in their Movement phase for all rules purposes..."
I would say that if they count as having moved and didn't crash at the end of their move they fulfilled the minimum movement required to get onto the table.

Ah, then it's sorted then.

What rule states that?
It’s not stated as a rule, but the precedent was set in the Guard FAQ in relation to the Tallarn Ambush stratagem and Leman Russes.
Page 136 – Ambush Change the second sentence to read: ‘Choose up to three Tallarn units to be set up in ambush instead of placing them on the battlefield (only one of these units can have the Vehicle keyword).’
Add the following sentence: ‘The units are considered to have moved their maximum distance.’
You also have the BRB quote from Leo which stats that they “moved” to begin with.

"Count as having moved" doesn't satisfy the "must move more than their minimum distance". If anything that proves that the Valkyries DO crash. If they counted as moving maximum distance by default, they would not have needed to add the line saying they moved their maximum distance. The Ambush Stratagem doesn't affect how the Drop Troops rule works at all.

The Ambush Stratagem gives precedent for the thought process behind arriving via special rules, and I believe should be applied here. It’s only logical.
Ruling that a supersonic flyer crashes by entering battlefield airspace is completely illogical.
We had this all before with the Tallarns Stratagem and look how that turned out. Apply the same logics and it works. Or have a nine page argument about planes mysteriously crashing, whichever works for you. If you think they crash do email the GW FAQ hotline.

On reading all this I think the tallarn way is the way to go. I believe you can also hover before deepstriking because the deepstrike is the move itself. I'm guessing you can't disembark troops though because it's the end of the movement phase

I think that might be best. The Elysians aren't really worth it, even with an order for Grendades+LasGuns!
