Is there any way to field a Corsair list?
The best I can come up with is, without the 3-detatchment limit, you could take Kabal battalions, and spend the CP on Aux detatchments. You can now take DTs, but that's another Aux detatchment (I think?).
With the 3-detatchment limit, you're stuck with one or two units. Only one if you want to give them a DT. Or you could do an army of *just* 3 units, around 500 pts total!.

Yep, they can't be used anymore.

"'players must agree how they are going to select their armies, and if any restrictions apply to the number and type of models they can use."
This is an actual rule in the actual rulebook. Quit whining about how you can imagine someone's army touching you in a bad place and play by the actual rules.

Proxy them. Is the best way to field them.

There have been plenty of hysterical responses from both sides so far. So we descend into pointless bickering with neither side listening to each other. So posting here becomes more masturbation than conversation.

There is a large group of them (im one of them) they were an amazing army to play in 7th, one of the most fun times i will ever have in 40k. I legit dont think my gaming experience will be more fun than 7th Corsairs. And no i didnt use formations, i took just lots of dudes, bikes etc.. that could move A LOT.
What a beautiful army that is now gone.

It was also full of modeling options, especially for the leaders. It was a good way to leverage the large cross-compatibility between all the Eldar (and usually most of the elf) ranges.
They did bring back some old FW units to life, so with enough pressure they might release a datasheet for a corsair prince. However, that would only come with PL and not be valid for matched play… so I guess it's useless since the initial problem actually comes from matched play rules.
So yeah, the best bet is probably to use them as other Eldars, and drop the FW datasheets altogether (they have no use outside of narrative/open play now).

Personally, I thought Corsairs died when GW axed their HQs, their Elites, their Fast Attack units and their Heavy Support units.
But I guess it never hurts to put some extra nails in the coffin of a once-popular army.

You're not. If you're worried about your opponent using 'fake' rules, you're having fun the wrong way. This hobby isn't about rules. It's about buying Citadel miniatures.
