Nah, jokes at some troll's expense aside, im curious how this codex will impact what is largely known as the worse faction atm. Will they just be "meh" or is there a chance that cost reductions and solid relics and stratagems could make them as effective as Custodes?

You didn't see Index Necrons, clearly.

That said, Deathwatch were pretty low. Based on the supposed leaks, at minimum Primaris are getting some awesome love in there. Even with a slight price increase, Intercessors having their Guns get Special Ammo is pretty frickin awesome.

I think it goes two ways.

If this is "Codex: Primaris", they get special ammunition, reroll 1s vs a battlefield role and a superior set of stratagems for free (or a really token points increase - like 1 per model), then it may be okay. Possibly not top tier- but not a joke.

If however they decide a Deathwatch Intercessor should pay 25~ points because of the above, then its swiftly back to trash tier territory.

At a hostage to fortune regular Deathwatch Veterans should probably not be more than about 14 points base (I assume they can't go lower due to regular Marines, who should probably be no more than 10-11 points.) If they continue to be... 19(?) unless they got a reduction somewhere, then you might as well give up.

Probably the 20 points for Intercessors and 17 for Vets is my guess.

There’s no way to say with the limited information available.

Bow down to Guilliman for he is our new God Emperor!

Martel - "Custodes are terrible in 8th. Good luck with them. They take all the problems of marines and multiply them."

"Lol, classic martel. 'I know it was strong enough to podium in the biggest tournament in the world but I refuse to acknowledge space marines are good because I can't win with them and it can't possibly be ME'."

DakkaDakka is really the place where you need anti-tank guns to kill basic dudes, because anything less isn't durable enough.

Thats lower than I would have guessed as I would say 22 for intercessors as that mirros the vets. Any less and they have to admit that vanilla marines are overcosted and they have decieded to ignore it. PR bad, but deathwatch being overcosted meh just what people expect now.

When you say they are OC is that the index or upcoming codex?

I expect the codex to be overcosted as its not basing it on the vanilla marine codex base points plus deathwatch increase in points is too obvious an admission that the vanilla marine codex is still overcosted afte CA and an FAQ.

I expect them to come out at 22-25 points for a Death watch intercessor as thats intercessor +deathwatch points area.
Making primaris pay less for DW options is risky. As it's a public admission of screwing customers.

It's Codex: Primaris.

The only thing missing from intercessors were better bolters (by better, this didn't mean the upgrade from boltgn to bolt rifle - i mean REAL upgrades).

Special issue ammunition solves this problem. Massed 30" SIA is going to be a thing.

GW has been hitting the new codices out of the ball park. I expect no less.

Hard to say because no one cares about Deathwatch.
