Anybody have any idea how to paint red Armour that shines? almost like in star wars snokes personal guard or like the 30k thousand sons? how would you think the custodes would like in that scheme?

I recently painted something similar for a space marine, but I'm not at home so no pictures or colour names. I base coated with red/magenta and added two layers of a crimson red. After than I just added a gloss finish.

Could do what I do for gems, paint a chrome-y paint (Tamiya here, but there may be better options out there) then clear res over the top, for a "candy apple" red.

Heck, just a good red paint job with gloss varnish (applied by spray or by brush).

Alternatively, you can base coat it with mithril silver (forgot what it was called now) and then apply thin, translucent layers of red over it (mix with medium).

For what it's worth, if I was going for a Snoke's Praetorian look to armour I'd go with a strong, opaque red and gloss varnish. But that looks like plastic, rather than red metal.

My issue is I'm looking for a metallic Red that I can use without an air brush. It's hard cause I haven't seen a tutorial to do it with GE paints

So this a deep red with a gloss clear coat.

I used a dark shade (believe it was Wazdakka) layered with a lighter, much more crimson shade but leaving the base coat around the edges (almost like cell-shaded), with a good coat of gloss varnish afterwards.

The candy-coat effect is clear reds (glazes) over a metallic base (usually gold for richness).

You CAN do this with a brush, but it's very laborious - you need multiple, thin, even coats of your glaze layers, allowing each to dry before doing the next. Each layer should go perpendicular to the previous to minimise any strokes.

You'll want a wide, flat, soft brush to do the glazes. Alternate layers of thinned red ink and gloss varnish, topping off with a couple of layers of gloss.

Sounds rather tedious. I would invest on some airbrush. If you are doing just one colour like that in a model it doesn't even need to be super expensive kit. As a bonus you can prime inside and helps with vehicles.

It is, and it's very, very easy to mess it up. It's a task an airbrush makes much, much easier - you still need to have the practice to lay down very even coverage though.

Several companies sell ‘tints’ that work over colours. We have a set of Badger’s Ghost Tints and the over silver would create the effect your aiming for.

for small areas on shoulder pads etc Tamiya clear red brushed over the gold (or somewhat better a pre-shaded silver) will work, needs to be thinned with their thinners but only slightly, and about three or four coats to get the density right - its horrible over larger areas so avoid on vehicles unless you can get it masked and sprayed, but for shoulder pad areas the size the banananannnananas have it will work fine
